I've just remembered the best PFB moment ever, honest, beat me if you can

After flying to France yesterday with my three (7yrs, 4yrs and 6 months), armed with a packet of pringles, a few nappies, a fab new ring sling and not much else, I suddenly remembered my worst PFB moment which I must have blocked out until now.

When DS1 was about 9 months old we had booked a holiday to the canaries. Being very informed and clever first time parents we also took the precautionary measure of also booking a Man/London flight for the sole purpose of gauging his "flightability" before we set forth on the mammoth 4 hr real flight. Armed with most of the stock of the ELC we spent the 45min flight beaming with pride as our obviously gifted traveller slept all the way there and back... Dear god, we needed a slap.

FrannyandZooey · 31/05/2007 22:07

ooh I just go foetal if I try to remember my best ones from when ds was small

yours is PURE CLASS though alien

misdee · 31/05/2007 22:08

oh alienbump, that is classic, but i want to know how your PFB coped on the actualy flight

missgriss · 31/05/2007 22:08

I was the same with sterilising bottles with DS. I also scrutinised every food label to check the salt content and wouldn't give him anything with more than about 0.2grams in it.

There was also the time when he was about 3 months old when he accidently hit himself over the head with a plastic rattle and I was nearly on the phone to NHS24! DH and I were whacking ourselves on the head with the rattle repeatedly to see how sore it was (me sobbing hysterically)

missgriss · 31/05/2007 22:09

I don't think anyone can beat alien though

NikkiBFG · 31/05/2007 22:09

I am pmsl at you guys hitting self with rattle to see how hard it was!

ViciousSquirrelSpotter · 31/05/2007 22:10

LOL at the mad rattle head-bangers

I wish I could remember some of mine

They're all a blank

whomovedmychocolate · 31/05/2007 22:11

MissGris - I did that - until DH pointed out that I was looking at the salt per 100g and DD basically only ever ate a teaspoon full of anything and chucked the rest at me.

I remember asking the HV for a chart on the salt levels in fresh vegetables just in case.

FrannyandZooey · 31/05/2007 22:12

Oh LOL that has reminded me of a few

we managed to duck ds under the water in the bath when he did a massive poo in it. Dp was sitting in bath with him, great big hoohah "oh no what shall we do with the big poo", meanwhile dp managed to let ds slip under the water for quite a few seconds before either of us noticed

I was ready to call the police and turn ourselves in, I was DEVASTATED. I couldn't even tell my freinds because I felt so ashamed

pudding77 · 31/05/2007 22:12

Alien definitely tops it!

Missgriss, laughing at the rattle!

NikkiBFG · 31/05/2007 22:12

My mum wanted to give DS some homemade gravy...she uses stock cubes etc and thought the salt in them was ok as 'never did my sister and I any harm'

so....I actually weighed out the salt that would be present in a couple of cubes to prove how it would be bad for DS......

whomovedmychocolate · 31/05/2007 22:17

Am I the only one secretly paranoid that the amount of bits of junk mail my PFB DD is eating will cause her some problems?

NikkiBFG · 31/05/2007 22:17

Dont worry - my DS loves Sudocrem.....

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 31/05/2007 22:18

Why Whomoved?

Certainly saves on the shredding!

whomovedmychocolate · 31/05/2007 22:18

I think DD does - she keeps stuffing carrots in her nappy at dinner and then fishing them out and eating them later before we realise!

alienbump · 31/05/2007 22:24

Oh misdee, funny you should ask because I do actually think he was the most advanced 7 yr old traveller on the flight - held his own passport and everything...

dd3 ate a carboard box from a deck of cards at 3months old. i took pictures.

if dd1 had done that i would've cried.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 31/05/2007 22:33

In response to OP

That is just fantastic

northstar · 31/05/2007 22:33

O crap - had the most terrible row with my mum who had flown over to help me after ds was born I am so . She put the hot water in the baby bath before the cold and I was hysterical. The water was fine, cool even BUT she had put the hot in before the cold and in my ante-natal classes I had been told the cold just had to go in first. Btw ds was asleep in his cot, she was just getting the bath ready for later.

pudding77 · 31/05/2007 22:37

alienbump, sorry but I have to ask, what would you have done if he hadn't have been ok on the test flight?!

alienbump · 31/05/2007 22:42

God knows - probably frantically searched the travel insurance for the "highly sensitive and therefore highly intelligent" baby clause...

tombley · 31/05/2007 22:54

alienbump - DH and I bow before you. You truly are the Queen Mother of PFB's.

Should I have encountered you on your flight while I had DD in her baby seat I would have been very and thought you very sensible.

ghosty · 31/05/2007 22:58

My sister did that alienbump. They were coming with their 3.5 year old DD to NZ to see us for 3 weeks. They flew to Edinburgh from Londond for a weekend a month before for a dummy run.
