It's their organisational skills that impress me.

fryalot · 22/05/2007 09:06

stay at home mums are pretty special too, 2shoes - give yourself a pat on the back

Ladymuck · 22/05/2007 09:08

Both of ds1's teachers so far have been working mums, who seem to do an even better job of juggling etc (especially as they can't just take time off to go to their child's sports day etc). In fact ds1's first teacher was a working single mum who was fantastic - just the person you want as your first teacher (for both child and parent!).

LoveAngel · 22/05/2007 09:14

My own mum was a (single) working mum, and yes, she was and is fabulous. Now that I'm a mum myself it hits home even more, and I am forever telling her how amazing she is.

WotzanameOoohhhjarmaflip · 22/05/2007 09:18

that's a nice thing to say 2shoes.

I expect and like to think that all mums/carers work hard for their children.

I also think all parents find it gets easier as you learn which things are important to get done and which things can wait.

I don't beat myself up if i give my kids a ready meal once in a while, instead of home cooking. Or only iron what they need for the next day instead of staying up late to do a whole lot.

Have a nice day 2shoes

What a lovely thread to come into work to. I work full-time and hate leaving my DD. Hopefully next year I will be able to give up work but until then...

Tatat · 22/05/2007 10:28

Tee hee its a bit of an overstatement to say that as a working mum I fit in all the housework

wheresthevalium · 22/05/2007 10:32

lol tattat, too true.

Thanks 2shoes, what a lovely thing to say.

I am very lucky and get told the same thing by my new bf now, (who also helps out and is generally fab) but it is always nice to get a pzt on the back xx

chipmonkey · 22/05/2007 11:27

I'm a working mum and I'm crap. My house is a tip.

Budababe · 22/05/2007 11:29

I'm a SAHM mum and I am crap. My house is a tip!

OrmIrian · 22/05/2007 11:30

Well thankyou....

The only person who usually tells me I'm amazing is my hairdresser and I only see her once every 6 weeks.

How long before this turns into a row? It did have the words 'working mum' in the title.....

SSSandy2 · 22/05/2007 11:30

same here budababe

GameGirly · 22/05/2007 11:31

What a lovely thing to say! I have a lot of admiration for mums who stay at home nurturing their families and putting their children first and, regardless of my own situation, I still think it's better for the children. Mums are pretty special full stop.
Oh yes, and my house is a tip too! And as for organisational skills ... couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery (although I'd quite like to try!).

Rachmumoftwo · 22/05/2007 11:33

I usually stay away from working mum/sahm threads as they get a bit lairy.
This is lovely. I think we are all marvellous personally, as being a mum is hard work in itself.

littlelapinWearsBoden · 22/05/2007 11:35

Most mothers are pretty damn great

DimpledThighs · 22/05/2007 11:36

..quite naughty if they are on mumsnet when they should be at work.

Now close the browser or I will put you on time sheets.

Tut!

LilRedWG · 22/05/2007 11:36

Lovely post 2shoes! Makes a change not to have arguements and one "side" bertaing the other "side"!

We're all great!

Lolly68 · 22/05/2007 11:41

DimpledThighs... would not be able to get through the working day without MN!!

clutteredup · 22/05/2007 11:41

i too offer my respect to working mums, its hard enough just being a mum and working a little bit.being a mum and putting up with all the s**t that comes from work, dh and dps, pils and parents and dcs , and hormones not to mention being constantly bombarded with the latest government parenting initiative of you're doing it all wrong, i think we're all wonderful

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 22/05/2007 11:49

We all have alot to manage, whether WOHM or SAHM and it does us good to remember all the good stuff we do rather than just focussing on the bits we didn't do.

ScottishMummy · 22/05/2007 12:07

2shoesisinvisible what a nice thinng to say hope it does not get hihjacked by any daft posters

GameGirly · 22/05/2007 12:10

I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside!

SueBaroo · 22/05/2007 12:42

Sorry, everytime I see this thread title I have to resist the urge to run in and say..

'...made of cheese, am I mistaken?'

Complete surrealist nonsense. Sorry about that. I'll go now.

PS, I know you're not made of cheese, and I think you're a very hard-working and decent bunch.

WotzanameOoohhhjarmaflip · 22/05/2007 12:49

came back and wanted to add some of these

nice thread
