I think working mothers and awesome, but then I think that about SAHMs too

Some dads are OK too

HunieBuniesBack · 22/05/2007 12:53

Who told you that we fit in ALL the housework?

I bet even the SAHMs don't do all the housework either!

LaDiDaDi · 22/05/2007 12:55

No, no, no, working is my reason for not doing the housework!

Berries · 22/05/2007 12:56

I really prefer teachers who have their own childen, as they tend to be far more receptive to the 'differences' in children and enjoy their little quirks.

Apart, of course, from one of dd2s teachers who blamed every slight misdemour on bad parenting. She did, of course, have the own perfect child who was marvellously well-behaved, polite & hard-working.

She has since had dd2 no.2. I have heard she is now far more accepting of children's little quirks (evil grim emoticon)!

Sorry, slightly off track.

Have been a WOHM mum & currently a SAHM with children at school - and my house is a PIT. Am cultivating the SOHM type

I work full time but I'm not sure that hiding all my ironing in a cupboard constitutes as fitting in all the housework.
But then that could be because I'm studying part time as well so ironing falls very low on my list!!

lemonaid · 22/05/2007 13:03

[whispers] I don't fit in all the housework...

great, so long as they are not rampant!

LongDistanceClara · 22/05/2007 15:54

House...wassat you say?

Lovely thread - I think SAHMs are pretty fab too. As are WAHMs. And SOHMs.

And fish.

BecauseImWorthIt · 22/05/2007 19:48

And a big thank you to my DH because he:

does all the washing
empties the bins
keeps everything tidy
has always shared being with our dcs

I was a WOHM from 6 months, and have always worked full time, so have also been very grateful to my nanny - and we also have a cleaner.

So I feel a fraud to accept such compliments!

Am now a WAHM, although still full time, and am enjoying seeing more of my dcs, even though (at 15 and 12) I don't see that much of them!

Much respect to all SAHM - it was definitely too much like hard work to me.

MaPickle · 22/05/2007 19:54

We're all fkn brilliant and this thread shows should stop slagging each other off and embrace our marvellous mothering diversity ... but where's the fun in that

zizou · 22/05/2007 20:01

.......tired.

dmo · 22/05/2007 21:21

i'm a working mum
my cleaner is a working mum
when we work together we get great results
couldnt do it without her

ScaryHairy · 22/05/2007 21:24

Thank you 2shoes!

I hate the SAHM v WOHM "debate". It isn't a debate as far as I can see; it is an exercise in oneupmothership.

I cannot imagine not working, but then I suspect lots of SAHMs think I am mad! The thing is, we're all just doing our best for our families. And credit to SAH parents, for doing something I couldn't.

(ps, my cleaner does the cleaning, my husband does some childcare. It's a team effort).

Twinklemegan · 22/05/2007 21:29

I can't claim to fit in ALL the housework, or even most of it because DH is a SAHD. But I do do all the shopping and cooking. I never thought of myself as a fabulously organised multi-tasker though or anything of the sort. Supermum I ain't!
