Am very concerned about my neighbour's kids.

Am a regular but have changed my name. Today one of my neighbours kids came to our door, she was in tears. We let her in and she was covered in handmarks all over her arms, her mum had slapped her so hard there was visable hand marks. She kicked her out without a key and coat and told her to never come home. This isn't the first time this has happened. Social services are involved with the family but don't seem to see what is happening. I really want to report this, but the mum will know its us as we are the only ones that her daughter comes to see in the street.

Whats the plan then CN? Have you rung or not?

edam · 16/05/2007 13:25

CN, if you believe this woman and her family may threaten you, could you call the police after calling SS? Hopefully it won't be anything at all like your previous experience.

Hope everything is ok CM.

fireflyfairy2 · 16/05/2007 18:46

Oh sweetheart, please report it to someone.

That poor little girl.

Do you think she is hoping you will report it & save her, rather than she having to do anything about it herself?

concernedneighbour · 16/05/2007 19:44

it has been reported

CN, you did the right thing.

DeviousDaffodil · 16/05/2007 23:30

I don't think you really had a choice.
You did the right thing.
Waht you have seen is the tip
of the iceberg.
God knows waht is going on behind closed doors.

TwoIfBySea · 16/05/2007 23:46

I wouldn't give a stuff if the mother did know it was me reporting her! In fact I would hope she would be so damn ashamed of herself she wouldn't be able to look you in the eye.

EllieG · 17/05/2007 10:48

Well done CN. Difficult to do x

edam · 17/05/2007 14:20

TwoIf, the OP said she has been re-housed due to a dispute with a previous neighbour. So I think she's genuinely worried.

Grrrr · 17/05/2007 16:06

You did the right thing, and you know that the girl can come to your door if it happens again which means that she doesn't feel she has no-one to turn to.

TwoIfBySea · 17/05/2007 17:36

I know what difficult neighbours are like Edam, unfortunately. They always just get moved on and become someone elses problem. I was in a similar situation a few years back, posted on here to ask advice and ended up contacting the NSPCC.

The HV eventually told me that unless more people came forward there was nothing they could do and the neighbour involved hated us from that moment on.

Glad I did it though. I just wish something had been done by the authorities as I felt so heart sorry for those children involved.
