I have so far only brought about 3 things off ebay, but i know some people buy and sell loads on there.

I just wondered exactly what you sell on there really.

I probably have some stuff here that i could put on, but never know if i'd just be wasting my time.

I sell toys, clothes and stuff my mum buys me for pressies which just clutter up my house. Examples, a meat thermometer, a parmesan cheese server etc etc

marialuisa · 28/07/2004 11:39

Cds and videos we don't want any more. Sold DD's pram and travel cot on there too.

I buy stuff taht hard to find in RL e.g. DD obsessed with "letterland" we had most of the stories as hand me downs from my sibs but I was able to complete the set and get her a couple of vids from ebay. Also have got her classic Disney films cheaply.

nutcracker · 28/07/2004 11:41

So is it worth the hassle then ??? Once you've taken the postage and packing into account do you make much.

Kayleigh - and did they sell ??

I have a list of all the things missing from my silver service and dinner service and when a new one (or one in perfect condition) comes up on ebay I bid (on the list I also have the price new so I only ever bid up to 2/3 of the new price). I keep meaning to sell too but can't seem to load pictures onto ebay from my computer at work + I wonder whether it is worth the hassle?

charliecat · 28/07/2004 12:09

I sell clothes videos junk and more junk. Stuff thats cluttering up my house. I made £200 quid a few weeks ago getting rid of 75 bits of tat that was laying about.
Look up what you have laying about, add it to your watch this item bit and see what it goes for.
Buyer pays the p and p. Get your kitchen scales out and then look on the R.M website for the chart of how much things cost to post.

I bought my wedding dress on there!

Kayleigh - have you sold the meat thermometer then?

marthamoo · 28/07/2004 18:23

Have sold: Playmobile castle (made more than we paid for it brand new!); toys; baby equipment; baby clothes; toddler clothes; computer stuff; maternity clothes; clothes that I never wear any more (from when I was working). Just made almost £200 after a big clear out - helped pay for our holiday!

Have bought: perfume; clothes for me; clothes for kids; shoes for me (new - couldn't bring myself to buy 2nd hand shoes); toys; and dh has bought various bits and bobs for the computer.

Love ebay!!!!!

I've just started selling and have sold a big desk unit, an armchair, plus two hardback books I bought for work research and didn't want to keep. When we move I am planning the mother of all ebay listing days. I've only bought a couple of secondhand books so far, but I can feel a bit of a spend coming on. Setting up a paypal account is a pain and I wish I hadn't bothered, but I guess if I do sell more it will be worth it.

Lisa78 · 28/07/2004 18:37

Kids clothes mainly - sell
DH keeps buying carry on DVDs... [sad) b***d

Lisa78 · 28/07/2004 18:38

oops!

Pagan · 28/07/2004 19:00

Have bought
1 painting
3 nappy wraps
10 nappy liners

Have sold
2 bikes
1 bike bag
junk out FIL's basement
tigger thermometer
cot mobile
Freddie Mercury picture disc
Smelly perfume MIL keeps buying me
etc.etc

Have made probably best part of £1500 (mainly 2 bikes) but you will be astounded at just what will sell i.e. just about everything.

The buyer usually pays for the postage so if you add on a few coppers for the packaging then it's all profit from junk. I think some folk become addicted and they buy anything. I'm more addicted to selling and getting rid of the keck lying around.

Tinker · 28/07/2004 19:07

I've bought some old knitting needles

Kayleigh · 28/07/2004 19:38

nutcracker - they did sell!!! Just hope my mum never comes round for spag bol and wonders why we are eating parmesan straight out the shaker

Kayleigh · 28/07/2004 19:39

SenoraPostrophe, yes sorry meat thermometer went ages ago.

anorak · 28/07/2004 20:00

We sold our old car on there. DD1 buys computer games and dvds.

moominmama86 · 28/07/2004 21:33

Over the last week have bought Eddie Izzard dvd, a really pretty Diesel top and a Smiths CD! Have also bought loads of clothes for ds, his moses basket, baby bjorn sling, bouncer etc etc. Virtually all of his 'equipment' was from ebay when he was newborn.

Am just about to start selling - ds's old clothes and baby stuff. I've found that since I've started thinking about selling, everything in the house is a potential moneyspinner. I prowl around thinking 'Hmmm, somone's going to want that, surely?' I think people will buy pretty much anything if the postage is low

Millie1 · 28/07/2004 21:36

I'm also thinking of selling ... and wandering around the house thinking 'mmm, will someone want that?'! Is it worth selling things like books by the time you've paid the fees? Also, maybe someone can explain, if you do a multiple listing do all the items get sold as one 'lot' or as separate items?

thanks

Linnet · 29/07/2004 00:04

I haven't sold anything on ebay but I have bought two lovely bracelets and a book that I had as a child, I think my mum threw out, it was a book that I loved so I got myself another copy on ebay.
