I have so far only brought about 3 things off ebay, but i know some people buy and sell loads on there.

I just wondered exactly what you sell on there really.

I probably have some stuff here that i could put on, but never know if i'd just be wasting my time.

have sold double pram on there, records, bears, toys, clothes, everything really lol.

we mainly buy bad taste bears.

colinsmommy · 29/07/2004 18:34

I buy antiques on there. I was wary at first of fakes or reproductions, but have been lucky enough not to have any of those. I take advantage of people who cant spell, and look for misspellings of items I want to buy. Most of the stuff I've bought, I've gotten for much less than I would in a shop, and if its not something I want, I am holding onto it as an investment, something to sell down the road. I just bought a tureen for $36 that is worth almost $200 because it was spelled turen.

colinsmommy, dh found a way of looking up misspelled items on ebay last night (I wasn't really paying much attention). He says the theory is you get them more cheaply as they don't come up on a search when you spell the item properly. I think I am prejudiced against bad spellers though because my gut instinct is that if they can't spell properly the item will be rubbish Illogical I know!

One of the funniest things I saw on ebay was in a long disclaimer about how the seller always tried to list accurately and fairly etc. but..."I am not inflatable [infallible, presumably!] " Put me off buying anything from her straightaway.

zebra · 29/07/2004 18:55

Any time a seller has a long list of disclamors (& usually threats "Pay in 7 days or receive NPB feedback!" I won't buy from people like that.

Just bought a rocking horse glider 4 £142 (!).
Boy, DD had better like it.

NomDePlume · 29/07/2004 19:08

I sell nursery stuff, shoes, clothes, cds, books anything really. So long as it's in good nick.

If I'm on the lookout for anything in general to buy, I do check out Ebay as one of my first ports of call. It's a great resource.

P.S. Zebra, I'm a 'disclaimer and pay by...' seller. I've been messed around by too many buyers not to post a disclaimer and a payment is expected by date.

marthamoo · 29/07/2004 19:52

I don't object to short and to-the-point disclaimers, it's those ones that go on for paragraphs and paragraphs in ever more lurid colours and bizarre fonts.

In fact, thinking of adding one myself - have been lucky thus far but am currently chasing a winning bidder who has been promising to send me a cheque (and coming up with reasons why he hasn't) for weeks. Is it straightforward to file a non paying bidder alert? Anyone done it? I am running out of patience now.

zebra · 29/07/2004 20:01

I think Ebay rules r u have 2 pay w/in 30 days, or is it 60? But some people insist on 7 days or NPB status...In the midst of a lot of text in ever so fluorescent font....Not fair 2 issue rules like that which violate Ebay standards. I can't be asked to read it all, so I just buy from some1 else.

God my kids r going manic tonight --- Enumbers or what in their lollies????????

Grommit · 30/07/2004 11:46

If any of you have Baby Bjorn carrier/slings suggest you sell on Ebay. Mine is 5 yrs old, in good condition and has just sold for £26!

Grommit · 30/07/2004 11:48

sorry - there was a last minute bid - £30.50 in all!!!

lydialemon · 30/07/2004 12:02

Pretty much DDs entire 12-18 mth winter wardrobe has come off of ebay, as has her christening dress. DH buys PC/PS2/XBox etc games.

We've sold a few bits old games, bits of DDs that she's grown out of , a couple of bits of mine. Its stuff that is too good to throw away, and I think I can get a couple of quid for.

Just been stung by a seller with pirate mechandise though, he's refusing to refund so we might be leaving our first -ve feedback soon

harrassedmum · 02/08/2004 22:11

My dp is a total addict and sits there (or here?) for hours. Actually like I am now on MN instead of watching big bro. Anyway, we have bought and sold loads of stuff, including cars, a pushchair, cds, videos, make up, motorbike gear, all sorts. Can defo recommend, especially if you register for paypal, makes it very simple. Also, i would recommend you could wait for a free listing day i think about once a month, obviously no fee to pay. You can find anything on there. Listen to me im turning as sad as him!

Janh · 02/08/2004 22:40

I just bought a pair of M&S school trousers for DS2. Described as 'age 12, height 60"' - which is what the label says, and he is 11 and just short of 60" - they have been drastically shortened at some point in their lives and flap round his calves. Have sent an email asking for refund, no reply as yet.

Cost was £1.04, p&p £2.50 (actually 94p and a bit of brown paper) and 50p extra for a Paypal payment - total £4.04. What am I entitled to, please, old hands?

nutcracker · 02/08/2004 22:45

Am going to reply to my own thread now

I have just won a pair of New Pj's with Lisa Simpson on for Dd1, and a new pink mothercare tracksuit for Dd1. Total with p&p 13.78

I missed out on a Gap Hoodie top though for 6.50, got out bid at the last secong

oh nutty, that happened to me with a beeyootiful red sleeveless gap hoody for DS2, ditto re last minute bid, lost it by 20p or something. Was v v cross. Must sign up for one of these last-minute-bid sites. (Life is too short to sit over a timer!)

nutcracker · 02/08/2004 22:52

My language was suitably foul Jan. Dp thought it was hilarious until I said that i'll just have to go buy one from GAP then, and told him the price

I am watching another one, but don't like it as much and it's more.
I do love a good bargain. Must start selling though soon, and make some money back.

clairabelle · 02/08/2004 22:56

what age /colour are you looking for the gap hoodie. I've got a couple I was going to put on.

nutcracker · 02/08/2004 22:57

Age 2 in red preferably, but would consider any colour really. Just trying to stock up on a few for Ds for the winter.

OP posts:
clairabelle · 02/08/2004 23:00

nutcracker · 02/08/2004 23:05
