My knowledge of buying kids shoes in East Anglia begins and ends with the Start Rite Factory shop, can you recommend anywhere that stocks kids crocs?

Ta!

Daddylonglegs in Southwold
(Good excuse for a day out)

Boco · 24/04/2007 19:05

Is the startrite factory shop open at the weekend do you know? I really need to go with dd who is now in full time school.

I'm between norwich and ipswich, but couldn't say about crocks. I saw some adult ones in diss, and touched them, they feel so wierd.

Katymac · 24/04/2007 19:07

No - factory shop open 9:30-4 (I think) Mon-Fri only apart from 3 weeks in Aug when it opens Sat as well

Boco · 24/04/2007 19:09

Thanks, how annoying.

allieBongo · 24/04/2007 19:19

dudley mason in bury st edmunds has them.

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2007 20:21

Thanks all!

Boco - I know the shop you saw them in, you probably passed me in the street

Stall on ground floor of Castle Mall in Norwich does them - towards Argos.

Fimbo · 24/04/2007 20:29

Office at Chapelfield have them too.

The Startrite Factory shop shuts at 4.45pm if that helps!

Boco · 24/04/2007 20:36

PY it's like going back in time in there! It's so strange.

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2007 20:38

strange? rofl, why strange?

Yes the stall in Castle Mall but you have to walk past Millies Cookies, Subway and the Pretzel place. Then there's a new smoothie stall and after that I can go no further due to gluttony. I know there be Crocs there though.

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2007 20:44

Another point re the Start Rite shop, during half term it's like being dropped into the gaping maw of hell - avoid at all costs.

Boco · 24/04/2007 20:46

Dont' you think its wierd? It's like the 1950's (but the occasional croc) - it sells such odd things, its like are you being served, but shabbier, the odd mens hankies, and strange soap sets, the decor, the lack of other customers, everything about it.

emankcin · 24/04/2007 20:47

GOOD grief Muriel, i shall call the NSPCC. It akin to social termination

Boco · 24/04/2007 20:47

Oh god i did start rite factory shop at easter, it was shocking - a whole darkened room full of kids and mothers in what looked like a conference room, watching the same bob the builder episode over and over and over on a large projector - waiting and waiting...

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2007 20:52

Oh, the shop, I thought you meant the whole of Diss! Yes, I know exactly what you mean.

And that Start Rite waiting room, the one time I went I took ticket number 92 and they were serving number 26. Peeked into the waiting room and nearly passed out. Suffice to say I don't need to save £15 that desperately and I left.

I saw some in a garden centre today.

EllieKthePA · 24/04/2007 21:19

does that mean you're in Bury St Eds alliebongo?

Fimbo · 25/04/2007 10:42

My ds is scared of the woman with seagull hair in the Startrite factory, she has very long false nails and hollers at you to get back in the waiting room if you so much as try to look at the shoes on display. My friend went at Easter too and had to wait an hour to be served and then they didn't have anything to fit her dd.

Each time I pass the Croc stall in Castle Mall, I shall peek suspiciously at anyone purchasing them and wonder if it is one of you!

ProfYaffle · 25/04/2007 12:12

I'm surprised it was only a hour. I only go during term time (will have to start paying full price when dd1 goes to school) and it's not unusual to wait 40 mins if they're busy (by which I mean 6 or so people infront of me) although it's usually faster than that.

What about the shop in the victorian arcade in Norwich,it used to be buckle my shoe ,not sure what it is now.You can definately get them in John Ives in woodbridge byt not sure where you are

imnot27 · 25/04/2007 12:18

That lovely shoe shop on Southwold High Street, - makes a nice day at the seaside too, bonus!

ProfYaffle · 25/04/2007 12:21

I'm in Diss so Woodbridge is a bit far, I'm currently toying with the idea of a day out to Southwold or just popping to Norwich. (although a shop in Ipswich would be handy as I'm going there tomorrow anyway)
