My knowledge of buying kids shoes in East Anglia begins and ends with the Start Rite Factory shop, can you recommend anywhere that stocks kids crocs?

Ta!

EllieKthePA · 27/04/2007 01:39

I am alliebongo, I'm in Bury

allieBongo · 27/04/2007 14:23

excellent tell me more about yourself? I think i am the only mnetter in the town

EllieKthePA · 27/04/2007 21:18

Have a look at my profile

I have ds1 (3.7) and ds2 (2 weeks ) and i'm on my own with them.

Suffolk does seem to be rather low on MNetters!

ProfYaffle · 28/04/2007 19:54

Bum. Been to Norwich today and came back crocless, stall in Castle Mall sold out of kiddie sizes, none in Next, John Lewis or the shop in the victorian arcade (they were a bit sniffy 'crocs? NO' with a cats bum face) Even Pumpkin Patch crocalikes didn't have dd1's size. So have ordered some online but dd1 wouldn't let me order pink or purple so she's got silver

(MNers are a bit thin on the ground in East Anglia)

it's all tham dodgy accents prof, they don't understand MN speak

SelfishMoo · 29/04/2007 10:57

Hooorah! - Sorry, excitement at reading messages from MNetters this far east

I've also heard that Southwold is the place to get crocs (I think my boss could keep them in business by herself; she's rather a fan). Hope the mailorder ones are OK.
Just wanted to say about the Startrite factory shop - it can be such hell, but if you can be there at 3 on a term-time week-day (not poss for all I know) then it is deserted - we've been the only people in there on several occasions. Just don't tell everyone, please! We usually then head to the nearby Sainsburys to check out their kids clothes, which are very well priced.

ProfYaffle · 29/04/2007 11:12

I was chatting to the lady in the Start Rite shop (not the seagull hair one) and she recommended after school times as reasonably quick. I'm off there next week actually, for proper summer shoes for dd1 to compliment her crocs. Where's the Sainsburys btw? Does it have a cafe? I don't know that area of Norwich at all.

Actually EllieK, I have a somewhat dodgy accent myself, am frequently mis-understood down here!

How to get to the Sainsburys - sorry, I'm useless on road names, but it's very simple. From the little estate where the Start-rite place is, go back down to the main road and follow directions towards the centre of Norwich (but not on the A47! - you want the local road in). You'll go over a couple of roundabouts (or maybe round them!) but keeping tootling along until you'll come to a small but busy roundabout and on the right is a retail park type place - turn right to get to it, then there's a big set of lights, where you'll need to turn right again to get into Sainsburys. Sorry about the lack of road names - I don't live in Norwich (we're down in the land of the pig farm between Norwich and Ipswich). Anyway, it's quite a big Sainsburys, with a cafe. Good luck!
Will from now on always keep an ear out for MNisms in the Start-rite factory shop....

Fimbo · 30/04/2007 14:30

It's just before you hit Dussindale if that's any help!

ProfYaffle · 01/05/2007 09:26

Thanks, it's quite a long journey for us so it's nice to break it up with lunch and a toilet stop.

I went to the factory shop yesterday and I have soo fallen out of love with it. We waited an hour ! I asked the assistant for t bar shoes or maryjanes and she looked at me blankly and said 'so you mean shoes?' Then could only offer us a choice of 2 kinds one of which was clumpy and navy neither dd or I liked them and dd was quite upset after setting her heart on some pink ones on the display.

We did come away with some black Felicity Wishes mary janes for £16 in the end though so it's not all bad!

I don't think I'm ever going back there. That back room fills my heart with despair.

I'm glad you found somthing to make it worthwhile!

Which is the funny shop in Diss with the crocs?

ProfYaffle · 03/05/2007 11:42

I thought Siddalls at first (as I've seen Crocs in their window) but then realised it was Westgate Stores due to the hankies and soap sets.

hi, this startrite factory, when you mention sainsburysis it the big one near the bmw showrooms and pets at home etc? not the city centre one i take it?
im from lowestoft so a regular tripper to norwich.

i didnt know daddylonglegs did crocs!! ages scince i've been over there. (well its normally the eve we go to southwold and end up in the red lion for tea, brilliant for kids )
i just spent a fortune on my sil sending us over a big box of crocs from boulder (she lives in denver)but it was still cheaper thang getting them here. it cost me £65 for 5 different pairs!!!

worleyhurley · 03/05/2007 12:10

im typing left handed as have ds2 in other hand so thats why i cant spell today

cupcakes · 03/05/2007 17:43

I think she's refering to the Pound Lane Sainsburys - it's a very big one with clothes and homewares. Not sure if there's a BMW dealer there.
