It's that time of year - the ones in Chiddingfold in Sussex are good and apparently there are lovely ones (as you'd expect) at Kew.

Where are the best bluebell woods near you?
TIA

We had a lovely walk in Sidney Wood (near you, I suspect, Hespera) at the weekend. Other good places - Mogador (I mean the one in Surrey!), Chipstead, Groombridge Place (Kent), Nymans (Sussex).

I'm glad to hear the badgers are still going strong, Enid

(they came back!)

Hallgerda - I wish I lived near Chiddingfold! It's so lovely down there (apart from the boy racers on their way to/from the filming of Top Gear!!) We were staying with friends.
I'm in London (Q's Park) and haven't seen any here at all.
Anyone recommend somewhere for me to recapture the magic?

The bluebell wood at Knebworth House in Herts.
They have one day where they do a "bluebell tea"-it's lovely.

Enid-Badgers? You lucky thing.
My mum used to have a family visit her every night for food and when she died,my biggest concern was how they were going to cope.New owners of the house were not badger-friendly despite my best efforts to find ones who were

I'm in London too, Hespera (Streatham to be precise). Most very local woods either don't have bluebells or have mainly garden ones or hybrids, sadly, hence the excursions into Surrey, Kent and Sussex.

Hespera · 24/04/2007 11:27

Found this bluebell walk but not in London.
here's one in London but it doesn't say where.
Enid, your house sounds like something out of Enid Blyton

The woods behind ds school are called the Bluebell Woods. The classes go on little trips there in the spring. Its just outside the field. In St albans.

We went to the Winkworth arboretum this weekend - the bluebells were lovely (I don't really like azaleas but they had lots of those too).
