for me its always from my mother and siblkings and is: "your children are so good .. you are so lucky"

funny that isn't it? if they were being PITAs it would be my fault but because they are behaving well its pure luck

what does it for you?

meowmix - do you write for The Royle Family? That was fab!

fryalot · 15/04/2007 15:33

on being seen out of the house sans children:

"oooh, has he let you out then?"

No, he hasn't let me out, I have voluntarily left the house, leaving a perfectly capable forty odd year old man looking after the children. I do NOT need his permission to go out.

I'm with unquiet dad on the freelancer thing. 'You're lucky working from home', makes me want to say 'no, you're lucky not having to work until 1am when you have a deadline because you have no childcare, and still have to be up at six with two children!'

The other one that really gets me is when i go out for an evening and people ask 'is dp babysitting?'

NO. You don't 'babysit' your own children! When i'm at home, i'm not babysitting! So neither is he!

kittypants · 15/04/2007 15:35

boco i hate the dh babysiting one too!

No but I'm convinced the writers have cctv in MIL's house. except they have yet to feature Drunk and Desperate DIL Meowmix.

(only... 15 days till I drink sweet white wine while rocking and keening "make them stop, make them stop")

Just thought of one. I have a friend and when I offer her tea or coffe she answers what ever is easiest.

WTF - neither are hard!!!

hunkermunker · 15/04/2007 15:55

"You're SO lucky bfeeding worked twice for you" - yes, it was just luck. No other effort required from me whatsoever.

oh, and 'cheer up love, it might never happen'.. oh, I'm so sorry I'm not going around with a permanently inane grin on my face, I am not a children's TV presenter, and what makes them think that what might never happen hasn't already?
