second link doesnt work
first think it looks like Arthur S sullivan or pullivan

zephyrcat · 13/04/2007 20:52

Looks to me like Arthur S Sullivan... couldn't open the second pic.

Do you know what it's meant to be?

nallydoolally · 13/04/2007 20:52

I would go with Arthur J (or S) Sullivan for the first one as well.

Nemo2007 · 13/04/2007 20:52

omg is that gilbert and sullivan?

morningpaper · 13/04/2007 20:53

fannyannie · 13/04/2007 20:54

Nemo - that's what I'm wondering (trying to get 2nd link to work again). I'm selling a tatty old copy of Gilbert and Sullivans Iolanthe on Ebay and someone has asked when it was published......wasn't sure so was having a closer look and noticed the signature......now wondering if it's actually been signed by Arthur Sullivan himself !

zephyrcat · 13/04/2007 20:54

Would say it compares with MP's link

Nemo2007 · 13/04/2007 20:55

OMG it is...blimey

PinkTulips · 13/04/2007 20:55

final n and the capitol a and s are very similar.

lacks the middle s and final flourish though but some people do change their sig occasionally

nallydoolally · 13/04/2007 20:55

looks like the same handwriting to me

Is the last letter not a y?

Mercy · 13/04/2007 20:56

Could be Arthur S Sullivan, although the second 'l' is a different shape.

Can you do a better(!) link to the second one?

morningpaper · 13/04/2007 20:56

yes you doofus

it's signed

I would either check with an expert to see if it is valuable or sell it again on Ebay as a signed version

Probably the latter - some nice American will pay a fortune for it

Twiglett · 13/04/2007 20:56

Arthur S Pullinay (sullivan at a stretch)

Nemo2007 · 13/04/2007 20:56

fannyannie · 13/04/2007 20:57

2nd link again takes a while to load Arthur Sullivan is a long way down the page.....

Nemo2007 · 13/04/2007 20:57

I would cancel that listing and maybe see about getting it authenticated
