I put in almost everything, except thngs like wooden chopping boards. Baby bottles, etc are all fine to go in.

DimpledThighs · 29/03/2007 10:59

I put everything in mine. You can read the bottom of stuff and it will say if it can't but most things can.

Stick 'em in and see what happens - that's my approach!

YAY you got a dishwasher - I got one earlier this year and it has made me so happy!

TinyGang · 29/03/2007 11:02

Hooray! I could never go back to not having a dishwasher. Well I could if I had to, but it's be damn depressing.

You can put most things in - the secret is to stack things so nothing's obscured from the jets of water and don't overload it.

Most plastic can go in, except realy thin plastic like you might get on a coke bottle for example. It could come out a bit buckled because it gets so hot inside.

I have found transfers on childrens cups tend to eventually start to disappear too.

Lucycat · 29/03/2007 11:02

the cat

kittypants · 29/03/2007 11:03

children and cats

TinyGang · 29/03/2007 11:04

I have even washed the children's bath toys in mine when they looked a bit gunky.

Lucycat · 29/03/2007 11:04

kittypants

you'd get fur on everything!

but you can put your Crocs in.

kittypants · 29/03/2007 11:05

true,new trend though fluffy dishes

OP posts:
DimpledThighs · 29/03/2007 11:05

don't put the children in - only put the cat in if it really smells or is really getting on your nerves.

DimpledThighs · 29/03/2007 11:06

oh yeah and kittypants I had to go out and buy loads more plates and cutlery as you are not washing up throught he day but small price to pay!

DimpledThighs · 29/03/2007 11:07

on some 'you are how clean your house is you eat' programme they said to put your dishclothes etc in there as it gets really hot and strealises them.

My BIL does this but he is a bit of a twunt.

kittypants · 29/03/2007 11:08

i heard you could put your muddy ptatoes in for rinse!

OP posts:
kittypants · 29/03/2007 11:08

potatoes
if only i could bath children in it my life would be complete!

OP posts:
daisy1999 · 29/03/2007 11:09

can children not go in on the top shelf ?

Lucycat · 29/03/2007 11:10

only if you turn them upside down so they don't fill with water

DimpledThighs · 29/03/2007 11:10

what if the press gets hold of this

"SHOCK HORROR! MOTHERS ON INTERNET ENDORSE WASHING OF CHILDREN IN DISHWASHERS"

the internet should be banned IMO

Lucycat · 29/03/2007 11:12

lol

only if they are really dirty and the washer is going on anyway, wouldn't want to waste water - the environment and all that...

kittypants · 29/03/2007 11:25

.seriously can saucepans go in?

OP posts:
MintChocChippyMinton · 29/03/2007 11:40

I'm with DT on this - stick it in, see what happens . Except anything with gold leaf on, proper crystal glasses. I put wooden spoons in, washing up brush, bath toys etc etc.

PavlovtheCat · 29/03/2007 11:41

Don't put good quality sharp knives in, it damages the blades.

kittypants · 29/03/2007 11:41

but saucepans ok?

OP posts:
MintChocChippyMinton · 29/03/2007 11:42

pans, yes. my baking trays have gone rusty (but i don't mind)

DimpledThighs · 29/03/2007 11:46

saucepans fine - but if they have like white sauce or something in then you may end up washingthem by hand after. They also take up a lot of space. Stick it in unless really dirty or you need the space.
