Being Australian, we have 1 CD 1 cassette and 1 video. I know a woman with another video. Maybe we could set up some sort of a racket for distributing for the wiggles. BTW my 2 dd's love them and the Yummy Yummy tape is on constantly in the car... their fave song is Willaby Wallaby Woo. They think it's soooo funny to put their own names in...

It is on far too early for me as at that time we are just getting up and tv isn't usually on until later but I do occassionally catch the 5 minute song before Dora. I don't know why it isn't on more often as ds twins love their songs! The last one we caught there was a little girl dressed as a pixie sitting in front of them grinning inanely, she even had a toadstool! Mad!

Linnet · 13/07/2004 02:05

my dd is 6 and she likes the wiggles, I find them a bit strange, especially Murray his eyes are weird. but dd likes them and even makes me set her alarm clock so she can be up in time to watch them at 7am, she's now on school holidays and she still wants to get up early to see them. They do seem to promote good things though like the fruit and veg song, healthy eating and all that.

suzy apparently the live shows are amazing - Story goes.... the guys attended teacher training college and am sure some if not all are primary (junior) and or early childhood teachers.... small group - over heard Greg(?) lead singer singing in the corridor practising a presentation - asked him to join their rock band..... rock band okay - kids band - brilliant success.......

Dd has a couple of their CD's - she loves them and we have some more hand me downs coming apparently.

Whizz - was told on good authority that some Woolworths in London stock Wiggles stuff!!

Found a site here not sure how helpful it is...

or amazon.co.uk

Sorry but I like them - the tunes can get to you after a while... we also have the hooley dooleys - same thing but with a kangaroo and of course Playschool( Russell Crowe's fil used to be a presenter....show been around for years)

Jaybee · 13/07/2004 14:40

ooooo The Widggles, dd used to love The Wiggles, we often used to dance around the house to Wiggles songs (great exercise routine by the way). Dd is now 7 and far too grown up to watch them . We definitely had some videos and, unless I have given them away, may still have - I will have a look when I get home - if i have I am happy to give them away to anyone who wants them.

SoupDragon · 13/07/2004 14:46

They're just plain weird!

whizzz · 13/07/2004 22:34

Glad there's a few more on my wavelength! I've found the Wiggles website (full of dire info !) & I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for tour dates ! "But Mummy, I don't want to see the Wiggles....." "Nonsense. Get in the car !"

My DS loved them but I couldn't get over the fact that they used to be a punk band (failed) called the CockRoaches!!! (didn't they?!)

Linnet · 14/07/2004 02:44

dd was watching the wiggles today and was copying their dance. I was laughing and dd went in a huff because she thought I was laughing at her but I wasn't I was laughing at them. Something about these men dancing just always makes me laugh.

Did they really used to be a rock band?

I always think that the yellow one, Greg is it, who does all the singing looks as if he's miming.

mummyintexas · 14/07/2004 04:02

I believe they have been 'bought' by Disney so it should be a lot easier to find in the coming months......
Oh wiggle wiggle wiggle oh

Ghosty · 14/07/2004 04:59

I've seen them live too ... it was just brilliant ... huge auditorium full of screaming adoring pre schoolers and their parents. DS was a bit scared by all the noise but I loved it. Especially when one of them made a mistake and they all kept cracking up throughout the next few numbers!
Soupy .. seriously not weird OR dodgy. They were all teachers and were all a rock band that didn't make it. They hit upon this great idea to market themselves to kids and are now gazillionaires! The kids love them, I believe most of them are married with kids themselves.
The Teletubbies and the Tweenies ... Now they ARE wierd!

mummyintexas · 14/07/2004 05:04

Hi Ghosty
Are you overseas (like me) or just up late? How are you.....

mummyintexas · 14/07/2004 05:05

PS you don't know me...just thought I'd say hello!

Ghosty · 14/07/2004 05:28

Mummyintexas ... Hi!
I am in New Zealand ... where are you?

Ghosty · 14/07/2004 05:28

Doh ... obviously you are in Texas! I have a cousin in Houston ...

Ghosty · 14/07/2004 05:29

I have probably missed you now ...

mummyintexas · 14/07/2004 06:22

Hope I haven't missed you back! I was making a quick late supper. I'm in Houston too - it's blinking boiling at the mo'.....arrgghh. How is life in NZ - are you a native or are you British?

Bloss, I'm sure Jeff was in the Cockroaches too - I have one of their songs on a "best of" CD from 1988 and it has a photo of the group in the cover. And the song was written by John Field, I guess that's Anthony's brother. I think he plays Capt Feathersword in their earliest videos. We had 3 or 4 of them at one point but I got rid of them as the kids, now 5 and 7, didn't watch them anymore. Now we only have Toot Toot (for some odd reason).

Sadly, Anthony - the cutest Wiggle IMHO - is now taken. I think he might be a dad now too...

Have you checked out their website? Try it here!

bunny2 · 14/07/2004 12:13

Im with Soupy on this, they make my flesh crawl, especially the one who introduces himself last.

xoz · 14/07/2004 12:40

Anthony won the "Australia's Most Eligible Bachelor" award from a womans magazine a few years ago. Also (I think) they are the biggest selling Australian music artists of all time. Even bigger than INXS and Kylie!!!! That's pester power for you! Although I think Hi-5 must be starting to rival them these days...

Lethal · 14/07/2004 13:08

I don't have a problem with the Wiggles as such, but I can't STAND Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Cptn Feathersword & Henry the Octopus!!! I find them extremely irritating, particularly Dorothy's high-pitched giggle. I think Hi-5 are much more appealing, but then I guess I'm not 5 yrs old

tigermoth · 14/07/2004 14:26

I just caught a trailer for them yesterday - very disturbing to see grown men acting that way

We hardly watch Nick Jnr but caught it yesterday and all of us - me,dh, ds 10 and ds 4 sat entranced watching the Clangers and Mr Ben. Our ds's have never seen these programmes. We told them how much more gentle, slower paced and book like children's programmes (usually) were back in the old days. We will be making these programmes a regular thing from now on. Forgotten how good they were.

whizzz · 14/07/2004 22:50

Please shout up anyone if you hear any news of a UK tour !!
