Thy're AWFUL. I'm sorry, but a group of grown men singing songs about Captain Feathersword? very dodgey

suzywong · 12/07/2004 23:06

Don't get me started on the Wiggles
I have a love hate relationship with them. They have got us through some very rainy mornings and no doubt enhanced DS1's musicality but I never ever want to see them again.
Too bad BIL has tickets to their live show for us when we get to Australia.

whizzz · 12/07/2004 23:07

No - Captain Feathersword is great "Ahoy there" !!
Think I've finally lost it ! Tee Hee

Never seen it but that little song about 'A wiggle and a giggle' (assume that's them) is very cute and distracting when I'm working from home

Have they done live Shows in the UK - I know they are huge in Oz (by the way DS likes them too !). I've been looking to see if i can find a video of a Live show but haven't found one yet

I am sure that somebody who was emigrating back to OZ had loads to get rid of.

Do a wiggles search

suzywong · 12/07/2004 23:23

whizz
videos are really hard to get here, they don't seem to have a distribution deal. Your best bet is to go on ebay and look for the seminal classic 'Wiggledance'

Tinker · 12/07/2004 23:25

Ah, it all becomes clear essbee [confused even more emoticon]

poppyseed · 12/07/2004 23:26

DD loved them and so did I!! DS is a bit too little at the moment but am hoping that he'll follow in DD's footsteps!! (sad mummy)If they do a live show you'll have to let me know..!!

essbee - where did you see them?

whizzz · 12/07/2004 23:40

They are Australian and my DS (3.5) can't work out why I laugh so much when he says that their names are Jif (Jeff) and Marry (Murray)
"Wake up Jiff" !!

Have to tell you Whizzz there is one hilarious segment on 'It's a Wiggly WIggly World' wherel the guys announce the next number as 'Marie's Wedding' and Irish jig type song, and , Captian Feathersword looks askance and holds feather sword aloft in a puzzled manner and asks 'Murray's Wedding??' 'Ha, ha, no, Captain' they all smile. 'Marie's Wedding.'

Of course both names sound abso-bloody-lutely identical.

See I told you not to get me started on the Wiggles.

batgirl · 12/07/2004 23:56

I think they are brilliant! I saw them, prob about 3-4 yrs ago in Reading, but it was part of a uk wide tour. They were very good & had lots of children & mums & dads dancing in the aisles.

Rolf Harris was in the audience & they dragged him up on stage to join in - which had most parents creased with embarrassed nostalgia type feelings & was totally lost on the children.

I believe that they tour fairly regularly - so I would recommend you look out for them

whizzz · 12/07/2004 23:58

You know it's sad isn't it...there was a time when the TV I used to discuss was Top of the Pops, The Clothes Show, TFI Friday.....and now look at me...getting over excited when I hear 'Hot Potato'!!!!

DS2 ( 3 and a half) spends most of the day "being " Jeff wiggle. I never thought i would have to utter the words "goodnight Jeff .. i love you Jeff Wiggle"!!!!!

Tessiebear · 13/07/2004 00:07

DS2 thinks Greg is called " Great" and Anthony is called "Affany"
