Looking for the impossible... girls leggings

... ie the straight legged variety. Everywhere I look it is now flared trousers or wide legged tracksuit bottoms. As my dds spend most of their time in wellies, these are not practical! (very uncomfortable when tucked in). I'm on a tight budget too, but I know how much MNetters like a challenge ... .

If anyone has some old ones I can buy off them I will willingly pay costs!! We live on a remote island so not fussy about how trendy/smart they are! Or can anyone suggest where I mihgt find them online?

Ta very muchly.

tescos usually do them. what sizes are u after?

expatkat · 07/07/2004 01:42

How old is your dd? I have ones for an 18 month old--2prs which I'd be willing just to give you, (i.e. you don't have to pay me.) I doubt they'll be used again.

frogs · 07/07/2004 01:43

Oxfam is the shop you are looking for.

Possibly not available on a remote island, tho'.

How old are your girls?

Janh · 07/07/2004 01:43

Here's one, Miaou.

My DDs used to have ones from Kids Stuff, which was taken over by GLTC who seem to have dismantled it????

Janh · 07/07/2004 01:44

Bugger, it's American.

Bear with me. Woman on a mission!

Miaou · 07/07/2004 01:51

Thanks chaps - I knew you wouldn't let me down!!

The girls are 7 and 5 and about average size for their age - but very hard on their trousers!!

I tried Oxfam/Cancer Research etc last time I was in a town (about three weeks ago), but nothing in their size.

Do Tescos def. still do them? Maybe I could send my mum out on a mission ...

Try here , Miaou (scroll down and page on!)

Janh · 07/07/2004 02:01

ebay (of course...)

Miaou · 07/07/2004 02:02

Thanks, Janh, they look great! I particularly like the stripey ones. Anyone know where I might get some for under a tenner though?

Whoops, posts crossed, off to ebay now...

Primark do them if you can get to one! MIL always buying them for my 2 and they are great, so practical, especially when DD1 has no waist - these are the only things that stay up.

Don't know anyone who lives near a Primark unfortunately. Is Gymboree on the web, I'll check that out (she says, answering her own question). (I need a "duh" smiley)

I've just bid for four different pairs of leggings on ebay, hopefully I might get one or two! Never thought of looking on there!

Before Janh put me onto it, obviously. (DUH)

iu think tescos still do them. i have always got my dd'2 leggings from there, usually can get 2 pairs in one pack. but i havent got any recently as havent needed to.

frogs · 07/07/2004 12:22

Miaou -- I've just discovered a pair of my 9yo dd's outgrown leggings that survived the last clearout.

They're plain navy and unfashionably tapered which is what you wanted, isn't it? Plenty of wear left in them.

If you email me your address to frogs5767hotmailcom I'll pop them in the post to you.

La redoute do them. And if you use "the codes!!!" you could get them for next to nothing!!
(search for leggings under enfant)

Janstar · 07/07/2004 14:05

Buy adult ones and the wash them. All mine end up tiny after that.

enid · 07/07/2004 14:16

I agree, leggings are perfect for active little girls and its impossible to find them anywhere - except France! we've just come back and I managed to buy several pairs over there. I think verbaudet (the french mail order co) usually have some - good luck! I actually telephoned Boden and asked them why they had stopped doing theirs (they were very good quality) and they said it was because they weren't fashionable anymore - so there! Didn't know it was so important for 2 year olds to be fashionable!

Tanzie · 08/07/2004 01:17

I am in Belgium and Carrefour usually do them. And they are cheap. I'll have a look when I go for my big shop next week. They usually do stretchy cord for winter and cotton jersey for summer.

I'll also have a look for any that DD1 has grown out of. Although she is 5, she is in size 8-9 for clothes as she is tall and round like her mummy

Miaou · 08/07/2004 01:23

Aw, thanks guys, really appreciate the help! Frogs, I am away to email my address to you now, thanks muchly.
