I know it's been said before but OMG this is incredible. DS1 has to do a poster about a mountain range and he chose the Himalayas. I looked up Everest on Google Earth and you can tilt the picture to get a real 3D image of it. It's unbelievable!

OTOH, if you type in Himalayas you get "Himalayas, 180 Lanehouse Rocks Rd, Weymouth, Dorset" Or at least I did!

SoupDragon · 09/03/2007 18:34

I think Google Earth is better as you can tilt the image - can you do that with flash earth? Tilt the image of Everest for example and it's incredible.

LAs Vegas is amazing - you can see people on a golf course as well as all the huge hotels & Dubaii is cool too

Whizzz · 09/03/2007 18:40

another good thing to find are the Nazca lines in Peru

Furball · 09/03/2007 18:40

ChippyMinton · 09/03/2007 18:41

SoupDragon · 09/03/2007 18:50

Just found the same thing - very out of date pictures .. years out of date actually.

Linnet · 10/03/2007 01:10

You can't look at my house on google Earth as when you type in the town it's just all fuzzy they obviously haven't uploaded the photo's yet.

You can see my dads house though, he lives in a different town, but it's a very old picture about 6 or 7 years old we reckon. You can tell because of what they've done in the garden since then.

Interesting all the same, I remember looking up our hotel in Florida before we went.

I stopped using it as I had vertigo as it zoomed down to earth lol

My town was crap lookin on it anyway

Furball · 10/03/2007 12:45

linnet - try www.flashearth.com - you may get your house on there

Soapbox · 10/03/2007 12:48

Google earth is great for all the big volcanoes. DS was doing them for a school project and we had great fun finding them all!

Vesuvius was particularly good, you could see right into the crater!

bran · 10/03/2007 13:11

Could they be sand dunes Soupy?

Snaf · 10/03/2007 13:16

I love google earth but also find it weirdly scary. I think I have a bit of vertigo.

Am going to have a look at flash wotsit.

SaintGeorge · 10/03/2007 18:27

Pretty sure bran is right, they are sand dunes.

SoupDragon · 10/03/2007 18:39

What are the grey/blue metallic looking bits then? I assumed they were sand dunes.
