It's too hot

But surprisingly rail-network has not ground to a halt on buckled wheels, there is not mass frenzy in the street and there are no Breakfast TV reporters covering attempts to fry eggs on pavements.

S'farkin hot though

But both my children have taken it upon themselves to yell "Muuuu-uuum" every 14 seconds and refuse all nourishing food and they also seem to have been beaten with the clumsy stick. So maybe that's the pay off.

nailpolish · 05/03/2007 08:41

a degree over freezing here this morning

Budababe · 05/03/2007 08:42

Sunny and fresh here this morning - temp due to get up to 11 degrees. 103 sounds far too hot though.

sunnywong · 05/03/2007 08:55

look, I would give anything to see my breath as a cloud in the morning and not be a sweaty betty all the day long, just for a week or so.

I don't know why they don't have siestas and the like here. If only they'd been colonised by the Spanish

i always thought that about new york, same latitude as lisbon, they should be having long lunches on vine covered terraces, not barking into phones and doing deals

Global warming at its finest?

I grew up in temps like that - humidity to go with it.

I f&^ing hated* every minute of it. Friggin' bugs, mosquitos, snakes, disease.

I feel your pain.

SenoraPostrophe · 05/03/2007 09:15

lol. You poor thing. s'lovely and cool here.

but anyway. If australia had been colonised by the spanish they'd all insist on wearing proper shoes in 40 degree heat, say "it doesn't matter" about everything and drive like morons. or do they do that anyway? You'd have nice food though.

It's exhausting, too. A lot of people don't realise how exhausting it is when it's so desperately hot out, especially if it's a wet heat.

Sweating nonstop and there's nowhere for it to evaporate.

Hell on Earth.

hannahsaunt · 05/03/2007 09:47

Bet your skin is fab though

I do miss it...

sunnywong · 05/03/2007 11:48

I dont' really hold with air conditioning, dh wants to have it on, I said ON, all night but I think that's rather noveau and unnecessary.

Ho hum

Senora they are SHITE drivers here, no concept of anyone else on the road in a dull way not andele andele way.
Awful awful drivers

So where did you grow up expat? NM?

SuzyWong- Thought of you last night as I was trying to iron the kids school uniform in sweltering muggy heat. We have dh's aunt and uncle her eand they have spent 3 weeks in Perth but didn't think it was as hot as it is here becuase it is dry heat and there is a breeze. forecast says its 42 there today. Dh volunteered to clean the firdge out yesterday after 3 cans had exploded and refrozen.. hell of a mess but he enjoyed having his head in the fridge.
good luck.. clean your fridge out if it gets tOO hot

Gingerbear · 05/03/2007 12:01

OP posts:
robinpud · 05/03/2007 12:14

Nah.. not south shore sydney.. so far west Sydney that a woman we went for a meal with said 3 times "poor you.. living out in X" I thought she was sad because she couldn't see more of me and enjoy my sparkling wit. Eventially I realised she felt sorry for me living in such a terrible suburb along with the great unwashed!!

I'm wearing long sleeves.. nah nah nahnah!

do you think that new Dove deodrant really leaves no marks??

sunnywong · 05/03/2007 12:16

S'farkin hot here too....much too hot. I wish it would RAIN.

Oh, and I also dream of seeing my breath in the morning, and those lovely cold, clear, crisp days.

I get all sweaty during the 3 minute walk to work at 7.15am every day.

Tooooo hot

mamama · 05/03/2007 16:44

Am slightly empathetic as it does reach 100F here in the summer (with 90% humidity too ), but given that I am now thrilled it has warmed up to 20F (minus 5c, I think) and has stopped snowing for now, I am not sure I can offer full sympathy atm...
