Another lurker coming out to say farewell lovely zombie.
I'm in South Wales by the way.
Zombie, your third person posts were some of the first I saw when I joined mumsnet. I loved your writing style, you are clearly a very witty, intelligent person.
Then shortly after that I saw a thread where you talked about yourself and your recent struggles and what made you become 'zombie'. You blew me away with your strength.
Above all else you have always been a kind poster.
Hilariously fun, strong and brave and incredibly kind is how I'll remember you zombie.
You definitely made mnet (and the world) a better place.
I'm off to donate to your hospice in your name and also my local one.
Sending lots of love and light and peace.

Thank you chipping.

Not working tomorrow. Those crochet hooks are coming out and I am going to win the battle and crochet a square!

DIXIE

This was the last update that I am aware of

Update from Zniece

To all the friends of Aunty Candle, Candy Orr, I fear today might be her last. I am happy to say she is peaceful and out of pain now. I am at the hospice and reading to her any final messages you would like to send x

PenelopeNitStop · 29/01/2017 21:20

Dear Zombie, all my best starry wishes for you and yours. Beautiful, kind, funny lady. I've learned so much from you.

And the phalanx...you ladies are an institution, an inspiration.

Candle lit here in Canada too, with prayers and love for Zombie

It is amazing to see all the support on these threads (they move so fast nowadays!!) and FB.

Zombie must have touched thousands of lives over the years.

I personally like thinking about her meeting my DDad and gassing for hours. And DH's Uncle Sandy, what a character. And Tunnock's DH. I find it both comforting and entertaining to think of them all together, having an absolutely huge party for all eternity Flowers

BagelGoesWalking · 29/01/2017 21:25

I was trying to put into words ... But Educated said it very well

"These threads have been a little shining beacon of kindness and friendship these past few days. With all that's going on in the world that truly is something quite special".

I'm so grateful that wonderful hospices exist, I will be making a(nother) donation to my local one, who looked after my mother in her last 5 weeks.

It is amazing to think how one person can touch so many, a very special gift.

MrsEvadneCake · 29/01/2017 21:26

If anyone would like to learn to crochet I'm in Birmingham. I'd love to teach anyone over a cuppa. Keep the love alive in every stitch.

daisychain01 · 29/01/2017 21:34

These threads have been very uplifting. It has been like a daily pilgrimage to find the latest thread, they fill up so fast.

It's been a pleasure to know you have made this world a better place zombie

Strength and peace to all in the zFamily

Goodbye, lovely zombie. It's been a privilege.

Another long time lurker. I remember the mn rescue thread.

I hope you're pain free Zombie and that the next part of your journey is peaceful.

DramaAlpaca · 29/01/2017 21:41

Brilliant idea mrsevadne I'm in Pembrokeshire if anyone would like to learn to crochet Smile

Imissmy0ldusername · 29/01/2017 21:45

I've finally felt comfortable enough with my crocheting to be able to start with some yarn I had from an old woolly hugs project. Then I realised that it was totally the wrong yarn. Oops! So I popped over onto a website that was mentioned - holy moly, that was fun! So now I have a bunch of yarn turning up in the next couple of days, and I'm happy to be able to pop out a few plain squares, and with the remnants, I can't wait to make some really bonkers squares. Candy has touched us in so many ways. I know that if she was feeling up to it, she would have encouraged me to submit my woolly oddness earlier.

PencilsInSpace · 29/01/2017 21:48

Delurking to wish you lots of love, Zombie. I used to be PlentyOfPubeGardens and have enjoyed your posts on MN for years. You're one of the kindest people I've come across in this community - in fact I once told you off for being too kind and trusting to a stranger in the middle of the night.

I'm raising a classy can of stella to you this evening and wishing you lots of love, peace and comfort. Very best wishes to all your family and friends, thank you so much for looking after this lovely woman so well Flowers

ljny · 29/01/2017 21:53

Lighting a candle here in Washington, DC.

Zombie, you made the world a better place. So many of us who never had the privilege to meet you in person, will remember you. We celebrate your life and all the fun and kindness you showed to so many.

Sympathies to ZNeice, Zlad, Zlass, and all Candy's closest friends and families.

'Death be not proud'

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 29/01/2017 21:56

PlentyOfPubeGardens. It's good to see you. Namechanging seems sensible these days, unfortunately, but it does mean you lose touch with people.

Squibbler · 29/01/2017 21:59

I have lurked and lurked and have now graduated to a Phalanx Botherer (vair vair proud) found spear now, all polished with phluttering plag in place

I have looked out for Zombies threads and followed the journey she and her glorious Phalanx have been on.

I wish i had taken Zombies advice and 'just fucking said hi'. These threads remind you of the real people behind the screens.

In that spirit I am in Birmingham and would love to learn to crochet Mrs evadne

Cheers to you Zombie
