I have drunk the last of some Edinburgh Gin to you tonight. You helped me through some very tough days in the diagnosis of my breast cancer
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields.

So many thoughts and wishes bearing you up on your way, Zombie. You're an utter inspiration to so many people here, you've no idea how many. Go onwards in warmth and safety, peace and light and knowing that you're so loved.

I used a Tolkien quote in my post on the last thread, so feel I should stick with the theme:

"May the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks"

I'm not drinking thanks to the newborn and the bfing but I have raised a glass of tonic and lit the most appropriate candle I have for you Z

This is a pigshit of a journey but one that Zombie has made with aplomb and one in which MN'ers have shown, are showing, their very best selves

My only hopes are that Candy is utterly pain free, and that those close to her are taking the comfort from the fact that she is in the singular best possible place to be taking the final leg of her journey.

It is an abiding regret that whilst DM had respite care in a hospice, she could not be in one for that very same leg; that having witnessed her last leg of that journey in a 'Nursing Home with Care' - versus the truly incredible and highly attuned pain management & care of the hospice - I can honestly say that hospices are incomparable when it comes to this twilight zone between life and death.

I haven't posted here before Zombie, but like many people have been touched by your story and what a wonderful person you are. There is a candle burning for you here in Hertfordshire. Sending you love and kind thoughts along with all the other thoughts for you and lights burning brightly across the country. It's amazing to think how many people are sending you good wishes.

I don't like to post on FB, that's for her real friends and family. I've only followed this for a week. I wish I'd found the threads before, I'd have loved to have met her and knew her story and about lad and the mumsnetter she rushed off to help.

Sleep peacefully Zombie you are loved and will be missed.

Antibiotics for agonising toothache here, so can only raise a beaker of lukewarm water. Here's to you Zombie dear, sweet dreams.
