Susie I forgot to thank you for inviting me round for cigs.

Pot I thought you'd made the theremin (the the there therey min) up (sort of like another unicorn in the music world) but the search engine of knowledge informs me theremin is such a thingamin.

The only thing I can add to the musicality is playing the kalimba. ( I'm sure we were banned from the recorder upthread, and thats the only other thing I can get a tune out of)

But you may need ear plugs this time in a morning :)
Its sort of drizzle/rain here and warmed up a touch, so just dank now.

We have a fine collection of instruments now, I used to be able to play the spoons! What a wonderful sound we will make, think we might get thrown off the cruise 🚢🚢🚢

book It was me who spoke out against the recorder on an earlier thread. On account of 2b, all 25 of them toot & flute with the door open down the corridor from my office. The teacher & I had a friendly thing going where she'd leave her door open & keep an ear out for me slamming my door shut

Then my boss spoiled our fun by asking her to keep the door shut. Am happy to report that she's now figured out when he's on another floor teaching so the game is back on. My record (!) of holding out was 12 mins. Am aiming for longer this year.

Am not as amused by the little buggers musicians strangling the violin or torturing the piano in the afternoons.

So what day are we setting off on the cruise?

The recorder is the extent of my musical talents. I believe a triangle was suggested as an alternative.

I think we should do houseparty next sat night, then we will leave for cruise sun morning! Hopefully we will be wide awake with instruments polished!!

I'm beginning to think we should abandon the musical entertainment & instruments & just let Zombie choose the playlist. She did start on the last thread.

I'll be pushing out Lars & Nils from the bar so we can make our own cocktails & we could concentrate on decorations too.

What else does one do on a cruise?

eat Fids - at least that is what we did , and lounge around mostly, occasionally tipping off to look around somewhere.

I may be the only person I know who has actually played strip poker. Unfortunately, I'm a fine poker player so I won. A lot. Not really in the spirit of the game.

(Tip: Wear earrings. )

One thing I especially liked on the cruise I did was that there was a "Cocktail of the Day". I used to have whatever it was as a lunchtime apero.

I can play that thing you blow into with a keyboard attached. Think it's a melodica? My weapon of choice after the glockenspiel in school music lessons.

On cruises we usually see what activities are on during the day or go on a trip after breakfast. If not much on or no film we want to see DH goes to the gym, DS goes to kids club and I read my kindle in the coffee bar with a baileys latte and a piece of free (yes, free) cake.

After lunch we'll maybe go to the pool area. DH & I will have a couple of ice cold beers then back to the cabin for a small doze.

We do the 6:30 naice dining so we get dolled up for dinner. Black tie on two nights! After dinner we go & watch the show, then wander to the cocktail bar for a few.

Late night, hit the all night buffet for a late night snack. Back to the freshly made up cabin for a nightcap.

Sleep the sleep of the tipsy righteous.

Oh, I thought the House Party was last night.

They did seem to have overcatered somewhat.

I did like having the Ballroom all to myself though

I thought it was all part of the go-with-the-flow thing these days, people turn up whether invited or not and phantom RSVPs

but will keep trying!

Well I retreated to the library when the bagpiper arrived. I rang for a cold collation to be served to me there, and the second footman kept me amused for the rest of the evening.

It was Somer 's quip about cigars. Curse her. Can't look at him now without grinning like a loon. Which he mistakes for something else.

(Not really my place... but are you sure you're not that into him? 'Grinning like a loon' was how someone described me on the night I saw the rather scrumptious face of the lovely colleague I'd been emailing...)

I did look for a footman, 1st must have been hiding!

A kilt? Oh no! All those knobbly knees!! Whereas a footman in tight breeches.....

DH rocks his kilt. Got married in it. He looked better than I did!
