Ooh, for parties, Soapbox? For party animals of a certain age?

How about:

Jackson Browne - Stay
Gloria Gaynor - I will survive
Prince - Little Red Corvette
Trammps - Disco Inferno
New Order - Blue Monday
Bob Marley & the Wailers - Exodus
Soft Cell - Tainted Love
Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - Come up and see me
Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
The Only Ones - Another Girl, Another Planet

Seeing as you've already nabbed three of mine (Preacher Man, Heart of Glass, Perfect Day)

Have a fantastic time and don't forget to come clean on which day of the week it is so we can all wish you many happy returns...

James Brown-Sex Machine
Rolling Stones-Satisfaction (or just get forty licks CD)
There she was just walkin'down the street....by that group with the lead singer who was pretty sexy then but is now too old.

Or maybe just get a load of compilation albums from 60's and 70's if that's not too much of a cop out!

mckenzie · 20/06/2004 21:36

Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark or Born in the USA or maybe both
Sister Sledge - we are family
Gloria Gaynor - I will survive
Rod Stewart - Do you think I'm sexy? or Baby Jane or both
Cant remember group but Funking for Jamaica
and when things slow down, Rolls Royce - I'm wishing on a star

JulieF · 20/06/2004 21:53

For a party I always find that Abba Dancing Queen and a bit of Robbie Williams (Rock DJ to get everyone going and Angels for that end of party sentimentality) go down well.

unicorn · 20/06/2004 21:56

in no partic order.
Rock the Casbar- the Clash
Rock Lobster. B52's
LA Woman - The Dooors

Also possibly some embarrassing music of the sort to which we committed teenage snogging (OMG -am thinking of 10cc's I'm Not In Love ), Fleetwood Mac, etc?

hmb · 21/06/2004 08:44

Fleetwood mac's Albatros! OHMYGOD, Youth club discos!!!!

My first ever slow dance was to 'Ben'. Great, what memories , a song sung about a rat by a suspected child molester!!!!!!!!!!!!

wilbur · 21/06/2004 09:00

My first slow dance was to Lady - Kenny Rogers, with a boy I had a huge crush on for about 2 years, but later I found out he had only asked me to dance as a bet

Soapbox - how about a few time-themed songs, since it's an "important" birthday?

If I could turn back time - Cher
Summer of 69 - errr, can't remember
1999 - Prince
Year 2000 - Pulp
Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads (ooh, and Road to Nowhere)

These are all great! Thanks for all your help! Keep them coming though - I've got 3 hours or so to fill with dance music and another 3 hours or more of mingling type background stuff!
