I remember there being a top 3 tunes thread a while ago but wondered what all of you are listening to when you have the chance/while you are washing up/when you can get nursery rhymes or SClub7 out of the CD player. And do you ever go to any gigs? I've just seen Doves at the Glasgow Barrowlands and am listening to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club as I type and PJ Harvey's new album is fab. What have you bought lately????

have just bought the new moby album. prior to that, last one i bought was angie stone. you and my dh have musical tastes in common - he has the latest cds of all the bands you mention! have to admit i don't like gigs very much - he is keen gig goer, mostly alt country lately, and hasn't stopped talking about glasto for the last few months. he is looking forward to it as a break from me and ds!

salalex · 21/05/2002 21:43

HA! Wish i was going as a break from h and DDs!!

I'm still stuck in the 80s - went to see Simple Minds (hideously uncool I know!) at the Albert Hall a couple of weeks ago.

Would love to go to the Fleadh ...

Bossykate, I was thinking of getting the new Moby CD - any good?

leese · 21/05/2002 22:24

Still stuck in Deacon Blue heaven.......

I didn't even make it past the 80's...I listen to Radio 4, Radio 3, Jonathon Ross on (oh noooo I am old) Radio 2 on Saturday sometimes because he makes me laugh and my (younger) dp's chill out compilations sometimes although I have no idea who any of them are

cherry · 21/05/2002 22:48

Recently released 80's album Pure Groove. Also Westlife much to the approval of dd and the anoyance of dh
As I write I'm listening to the Dawson's Creek soundtrack... brilliant!

Jasper · 21/05/2002 23:23

Anyone listen to Tom Morton on Radio Scotland in the afternoons?

Marina · 22/05/2002 09:07

WWW, I love Jonathan Ross too - when did Radio 2 get so dirty? Hardly your 100 Best Tunes, thank goodness.
Lately I have been listening to Kate Bush: Lionheart, an old Ibiza Clubmix Compilation, Massive Attack and the Pet Shop Boys.
I'd like to know if the Moby CD is any good too, bossykate!

amymum · 22/05/2002 09:40

Recently back into Kylie - latest album 'Fever' big hit with dd and dh! Also still stuck in university clubbing mode - just buy the music (Cream, Ministry of Sound, Euphoria) rather than going clubbing. And for the radio, nothing like Chris Moyles to liven up the afternoons! Anyone else think Comedy Dave sounds really cute?

Tillysmummy · 22/05/2002 09:50

Capital Radio or George Michael, Kylie, Boyzone (yes, Im ashamed to admit it ! ), Robbie Williams, and then some older stuff too, still love Abba and Bryan Ferry, The Doors, Paul Weller, The Gypsy Kings, the list is endless !

Enid · 22/05/2002 10:50

Marina, I too have been listening to Kate Bush as I have just bought all her old albums on CD to replace my old vinyl - ditto Massive Attack!

I have been dancing round the room with dd to some old dance compilations (Sasha and John Digweed if that means anything to anyone!) and I like listening to weird electronic music and classical stuff. R4 seems to be a constant companion, ditto R3. Johnathan Ross on Sat am and the Archers compilation on Sundays.

Ems · 22/05/2002 13:18

Just got given Kylie by ds for birthday, (think its for him really) but seeing as it was his free choice in Woolies apparently, it could have been worse.

Sainsburys are currently doing chart CDs for £8.50 instead of the still brill price of £9.99. Treated myself to Lulu's today, duets with everyone and everybody, hmmmmm outcome could go either way on this I think.

Theres no need to be ashamed about Boyzone, but at the moment im listening to Old School spring term its great it takes me back to my clubbing days before all this marriage and babies lark

bundle · 22/05/2002 13:57

Enid, our listening habits (apart from the dance music) sound spookily similar, especially the R4/Jonathan Ross/Archers combination. also this week, I have been mostly listening to (and I'm not ashamed to say it) the greatest hits of everything but the girl, take that and lots of old Squeeze tracks

Rhiannon · 22/05/2002 15:06

Capital FM every day and The Jam on the CD. R

It's U2 all the way in our house especially since we saw them in the 'Elevation' tour last summer - have to prise the t-shirt off dh's back to wash it every now and again.
I like what dh condescendingly calls 'diddly diddly' music - modern Scottish/Irish folk like Anam, Drop the Box and th Afro Celt Sound Systwm - seriously chill out music!!

Janus · 22/05/2002 22:01

Bossykate, would love to know what the new Moby album is like too.
Does anyone know if the new Lauren Hill album is out yet, listen to her old one constantly, it is brilliant.
Have thought about buying the Doves too salaex, is it good?
Still like Stereophonics, dd now sings along to 'Have a Nice Day', which I think is really cute!
Old stuff, still love listening to Stevie Wonder's early days.

Janus · 22/05/2002 22:02

Oh, anyone got or heard a bit more of Nora Jones (don't know if I've spelt that right), sounds like a good voice???

Tinker · 22/05/2002 22:52

Janus - don't know much about her but she was on Jools Holland last week (no good to you now, I suppose!) She's Ravi Shankar's daughter, I think - her voice is sublime.

jenny2998 · 23/05/2002 00:05

I used to love going to gigs pre-children. went to see Foo Fighters, Placebo...loads of others and I can't remember off hand.

Would love to go and see No Doubt...
