10000 might have been a bit of an exaggeration, although we're on the start of 13 this week... about 8 or 9 seasons on dvd? 24 eps per season (ish)... Gotta be around 200 hours worth of ER

FlamesparrowThePirate · 03/01/2007 19:38

4400

Psychomum tells me the books are very different (Bones) and she's getting all baffled trying to read them and seeing the characters wrong! (Not that that is relevant)

paulaplumpbottom · 03/01/2007 19:58

Try the West Wing, one of the best things they have ever put on TV.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 03/01/2007 20:00

I'm clearly going to have to neglect my children more than usual...

Farscape - I think I've seen S1 2 and 3... kind of lost track of it then in a Buffy/Angel marathon!
Bablyon 5 - Fabulous. Caught it all on TV when it was on.
Battlestar Galactica - I think I actually watched the pilot episode, it didn't grab me immediately and I never got the chance to give it a fair trial.
4400 - watched a few of these and having seen so many of this type of series, we decided we could see how it was going to pan out and gave up on it.

Not keen on medical stuff - too squeamish!!

agree with rubberduckinleftovercurry

scrubs is soooo good. i only just seen it whilst on maternity leave it actually has me in fits of laughter.
bones is very good, there was a second series of tru calling then they cancelled it. just like invasion.

go with the scrubs, (its not gory at all in case you dont like medical)

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 03/01/2007 20:02

Sorry, yes, we did Scrubs on E4. Fabulous! Utterly fabulous

I've just discovered that I've won Battlestar Galactica S1 on Ebay - I put a bid in earlier today and then forgot about it...

Jake 2.0 was good too... cancelled 16 eps in and 1 series of Now and Again (then?) that was good.

shanks313 · 03/01/2007 20:07

I have seen Stargate AG1,Atlantis,Buffy,Angel and Firefly and even met the casts of them too so Im really into the shows.

I have just started watching NCIS and would recommend it,alot of people who like Stargate also love NCIS,it has the same type of humour.
Also love Six Feet Under.

mustrunmore · 03/01/2007 20:08

I saw the whole lot of Urban gothic on dvd in the charity shop for £3.99. Why didnt I get it????

Highlander the series is ok once you get into it and put all thoughts of the film out of your head

Ooo, can you get the Beauty and the Beast (Catherine Hamilton) series on dvd? I was attracted to dh because he looks like vincent, the beast.

RubberDuckInLeftoverCurry · 03/01/2007 21:18

Scrubs isn't gory medical at all - it's comedy - but a very wry sense of comedy (similar to the undercurrents in Buffy, Angel et al I would say).

A friend of mine kept begging me to watch it, but it didn't appeal at all - then at a loss of what to rent one week, I got the first disk of the first season of Scrubs. From that moment on I was a complete addict!

RubberDuckInLeftoverCurry · 03/01/2007 21:19

Oops... just read the bit where you said you'd seen it

Erm - Alias and Tru Calling would be my vote then.

fishie · 03/01/2007 21:31

charmed is fun in early series with original three witches. could not manage to be interested in v mars, but really loved popular. it is impossible to find (cannot google it for a start) sometimes appears on C5. have forgotten the name of the man who made it but he went to on do desperate housewives, although that never really got going imo. lost is dull.

am interested to hear about battlestar, how is it good - plot, character or what?? what is weeds?

3rdTriMossTer · 04/01/2007 15:31

Ooh has anyone said The Outer Limits or Millennium? Bit old now but still good!

nikkie · 04/01/2007 19:38

Just saw Scrubs mentioned, what about Frasier if you are looking a t comedy?

Thats because Hex was a bit crap really I watched the first series, but just couldn't make it through the second. If you want good British Scifi/fantasy you should try Ultraviolet (TV not recent film)

Medium hasn't been mentioned yet, that's pretty good too!

elfinblast · 29/04/2007 01:14

I don't know how many of these are out on dvd, but some are on sky, and most can be found on the interwebbything.

A town called Eureka (or just Eureka)
Heroes
Dresden Files
Bones (already mentioned, and nothing like the books which are also fab!)
Dexter (a bit on the gory side, but was still on US tv, so not that bad)
Ghost Whisperer

Global Frequency (only 1 episode exists)
Painkiller Jane
Raines

Want a laugh? The (american) Office
My name is Earl
Ugly Betty

And, if you can find them Freaky Links, and The Chronicle.
