Sorry if thread done before - did have a quick hunt through to check first but didn't find anything.
I have always found New Years Eve really depressing and a big build up for nothing. This is the first year in a very long time that I have felt really good in myself (have been suffering with long term depression) and I am determined to enjoy this one.
We are thinking about going to visit family in Wales for a couple of nights - need to phone them tonight and see if they'd be okay for us to stay. Not sure if I fancy the journey up (four hours in car with travel sickness not good - and that's me not the kids ) but it will be fun once there.
What's everyone else up to?

see the matinee performance of Cinderella at the local theatre with DS and DD....unlikely to see in the New year (what's new !) so we'll celbrate on NY day

SherlockLGJ · 28/12/2006 17:20

DS1 old enough to babysit ?? Send him over.

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 28/12/2006 17:23

Oh no baby! I growed him... I keep him! lol

I've told him that the next 2 NYEs he'll be babysitting. DD1 will then take over for the next 2. Then they will alternate until DD2 is old enough to do it. Then we'll just farm the DTs out until they are old enough to stay home alone!

Oh yeah!

SherlockLGJ · 28/12/2006 17:24

Meanie...........

dingdongmerRADLEYonhigh · 28/12/2006 17:28

Supposed to be having friends round for a knees up, but, to be honest, I don't fancy it anymore, I having a large glass of baileys and falling asleep watching dvd's.

Fingers crossed that they cancel.

noddyholder · 28/12/2006 17:32

Dp working til 10.30 then he will come home and we'll watch jools and go to bed I love the thought of nothing to do after the mayhem of xmas! Will have a few glasses of champagne and spend it with my 2 boys and that will be more than enough for me!

PeachyIsNowAChristmasFruit · 28/12/2006 18:03

chinese, champagne, maybe a DVD

DH on call. However, he's the only one called in so far (he's also off sick officially- - bastards) the last two nights, so his phone might break.

Going to prague with my young man

nogoeswithbellson · 28/12/2006 18:13

I love Christmas but I don't like new years eve. I hate the pretense of it all and the fact that you feel like you should hug a stranger just because it is a new year.

I had a fab millenuim new years eve though we went to France to escape the hype and were invited to a village party with lovely food and really down to earth people. This year I shall be at home, watching the telly with a bottle of wine and a box of chocs.

Blondilocks · 28/12/2006 18:22

DD & I are going to friends. It should be fun, except I'm the only one that's not part of a couple! & DD is looking forward to her first sleepover. I think the kids are having their own little party & there's rich food & drink for the grownups.

Blondilocks · 28/12/2006 18:23

Think it's quite a good idea though as none of us have to find babysitters but can still have a good time.

paulaplumpbottom · 28/12/2006 19:17

We can't find a babysitter.

averymerrymonkeymooXmastoyou · 28/12/2006 19:25

The Outlaws are coming over for the weekend... swap with someone for a quiet night in front of the telly

averymerrymonkeymooXmastoyou · 28/12/2006 19:25

wonder what Amanda1 will be doing

cori · 28/12/2006 19:30

Going to see Kylie Minogue at Wembley, Thanks to Broadie for selling me her tickets. First New Years eve out since DS 1 was born, so more than 5 years. Am so excited

snowfunwhenyoureknackered · 28/12/2006 19:35

where are you paula?

I'm satying in with dh and the boys, would love to be invited out somewhere but if I actually was wouldn't go cos I like staying in with them!

nightowl · 28/12/2006 19:40

im having some friends over this year and possibly it will be the best one ive had. have gone completely overboard and what started off as a little get together has ended up with a fair bit of party food (and perhaps mucho alcohol).

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 28/12/2006 19:41

Dh possibly spending it with friends whilst I stay here on my lonesome.

all DH's family coming and staying overnight, PILs, SIL, niece, BIL & wife, am not looking forward to it and am resigned to the fact that I will need alcohol in large quantities...

pootletheinvisibleflump · 28/12/2006 20:28

Going to the mess (we're army), as kids are allowed in. Just planning on letting dd(2.2) stay up as late as she likes, which probably won't be late as she's normally in bed at 7.

NOELallie · 29/12/2006 12:42

Don't really care for New year TBH. A big heap of nothing really....and by then I've usually reached saturation point with food and drink But we're going to one friends house for a while during the day, and another friends in the evening. Both times with kids (which I prefer). We won't be staying till midnight - probably go home about 10. Not that the kids will be able to sleep anyway with WWIII breaking out when everyone lets of their fireworks around us.
