Sorry if thread done before - did have a quick hunt through to check first but didn't find anything.
I have always found New Years Eve really depressing and a big build up for nothing. This is the first year in a very long time that I have felt really good in myself (have been suffering with long term depression) and I am determined to enjoy this one.
We are thinking about going to visit family in Wales for a couple of nights - need to phone them tonight and see if they'd be okay for us to stay. Not sure if I fancy the journey up (four hours in car with travel sickness not good - and that's me not the kids ) but it will be fun once there.
What's everyone else up to?

Not much unfortunately - parents are over at the moment so will probably cook a nice meal but DH is on call and we have been warned - it will be busy so I probably won't see much of him We had a great Xmas though

MerryBiglipsmas · 27/12/2006 15:55

party party party!!...(if thats im well enough to go!)

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 15:57

Nothing DH is working until 10.30, so be home about 11.30... I guess we could celebrate abit, but I can see it as him nodding off in the chair, and me just getting depressed at another pants New Years Eve.

nutcracker · 27/12/2006 15:59

Absolutly nothing and I know I will be miserable about it however hard I try not to be.

SpicymulledSheraz · 27/12/2006 16:00

My Dh is working all night ( police officer). So I will be at home with DS's. Will have a glass or two of wine and watch Jools Holland. Not a big fan of new years eve myself. If any Mners are about may come on for a chat - lulus bar may be open?!

QuootiepieTheChristmasAss · 27/12/2006 16:01

Sheraz - Ill prob. be here too!

[need to get a life emoticon]

ImMcDreamyingofawhitexmas · 27/12/2006 16:01

Yep I'll be at Lulus bar! Sad isn't it!

LucyJones · 27/12/2006 16:02

My dh is going round to some friends that he doesn't see very often so I'm babysitting and probably will be in bed by 10pm

Mercy · 27/12/2006 16:03

Nutcracker, I remember you posting that your friends had arranged a night out - were you not able to persuade them to have a little party at yours?

nutcracker · 27/12/2006 16:04

I didn't ask in the end Maercy as 'friend' made it quite clear since what she really thinks of me.

twinsetandpearls · 27/12/2006 16:08

one of the neighbours is having a party and we can bring dd as the other neighbours areall bringing their kids.

SnafuOutOfHiding · 27/12/2006 16:11

I'm going to a friend's house for a low-key 'gathering' and taking ds. I don't really want to (go, that is, not take ds).

First NYE since he was born that I've had the chance to go out - and I'd rather just sit in front of the tv

LIZS · 27/12/2006 16:11

Nothing atm . Nutty couldn't you invite anyone around to yours ?

Mercy · 27/12/2006 16:11

Sorry Nutcracker .

There'll be plenty of people on MN though (me included)

nutcracker · 27/12/2006 16:11

No one to invite LIZ.

marymillington · 27/12/2006 16:14

nutty - make a plan to do something with nice people for new year's day instead. i reckon its way more important than new year's eve. starting off jan first with the mother of all hangovers, tired, pale and grey and infinitessimally skinter is overrated imo.

expatinscotland · 27/12/2006 16:15

SIL and two mates are coming over for drinkies.

DH is going across the street to his local w/his two pals.

SpicymulledSheraz · 27/12/2006 16:38

Shall I sell advance tix for Lulamams bar then?

littlerach · 27/12/2006 16:43

We're actually going out, wuth dds, to a party where even children are invited. Whilst I doubt that it will be the best night of my life, there will be plenty of people we know, and lots od dd1's friends.

DeckthehallsLaDiDaDi · 27/12/2006 16:49

We are planning on staying in and a few friends, 8 or so of us, will come round for some drinks, snacks and games. It is not, repeat NOT, a party.

Hopefully it will be quite nice and dd is staying with her gps so dp and I can have a few drinks and a lie in on New Years Day.

Skribble · 28/12/2006 17:05

Working, would find it strange not too, not much of a party animal anyway so would probably just end up at home with a bottle and pile of sausage rolls.

LadyTophamHatt · 28/12/2006 17:11

Dh is working and I'll absolutley, without a doubt be asleep by midnight.

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 28/12/2006 17:14

DS1 finally old enough to babysit. So no struggle to find a sitter this year.

Parrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrddddddddddddddddeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

LittleSarah · 28/12/2006 17:18

My dad has dd so I shall be going oot, somewhere, with some people. Not sure tbh, there are few parties going on, think I will decide on the night, you know, try and be young and impulsive!
