...a desk-top rocket launcher (with little foam missiles)

Fabulous. Why not package it up with a few photos of children's bodies being carried out of buildings in Lebanon? Or a couple of shots of tanks on fire with soldiers in them from Iraq?

Was it a Stomp rocket, Cod. We had one of those. Managed to get it over the house from about 110 feet down the garden

katierocket · 04/12/2006 15:54

I can't believe you can get upset about something like this.

hulababy · 04/12/2006 15:57

Haven't these beena round for ages - like office toy type things?

I can't find this particular one on the M&S site to see if it is what I am thinking of.

ruty · 04/12/2006 16:03

it is not a rocket. It is a rocket launcher. thinking it is in poor taste does not exclude one from being able to have an effing sense of humour when something is actually funny.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2006 16:06

Ohhh its not that bad really is it?

wannaBeOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 04/12/2006 16:12

but you're not going to be killing innocent civillians with it are you? You're going to be putting it on a desk to play with, and the novelty will wear of in ... oh... maybe a week or so.

If it was being sold in a shop in Iraq I could maybe see why it is in bad taste, but it isn't. it's being sold in a shop over here, as a gift, not as a weapon.

I'm sure there are hundreds of things we could get upset about because they are in bad taste, but if you don't like it, then don't buy it. simple as.

snowleopard · 04/12/2006 16:13

Too right Ruty.

TwoIfBySea · 04/12/2006 20:40

And I thought this thread would be about the desktop poledancer they have on sale.

Class.

morningpaper · 04/12/2006 20:42

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 04/12/2006 20:44

buktus · 04/12/2006 20:44

What is wrong with this person?
OTT

Rhubarb · 04/12/2006 20:45

Disgusting! I shall write a letter of complaint at once! Be prepared to read letters in the broadsheets about this matter signed from "Mortified of Mumsnet"

morningpaper · 04/12/2006 20:46

The violent bastards - I tried to find it on their website and I got this result:

You searched for "launcher", more results were found under "punched"

morningpaper · 04/12/2006 20:49

But they had this top for my dd

dorisofdevon · 04/12/2006 21:14

love the top

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 04/12/2006 21:35

I think you need to get out more often hovely

Nightynight · 04/12/2006 21:37

its tasteless. Presumably its meant for grownups, who will never go near a battlefield in their lives.
Anyone who is that out of touch with reality should be shipped off to a war zone for a month, they wouldnt feel so much like wasting money on tat like this in future.

Nightynight · 04/12/2006 21:38

in other words, I agree with hovely!

controlfreakyturkeyandstuffing · 04/12/2006 21:39

hear hear nighty

DelGirlsRingAreYouListening · 04/12/2006 21:42

I'm going to buy one and strap a doll to it

Blondilocks · 04/12/2006 21:42

No worse than the remote control tank that my housemate wanted that could fire little pellets!

Rhubarb · 04/12/2006 21:42

Does that mean Thunderbirds is also out?

Good grief! Children make weapons out of sticks, it's all part of growing up! My sister banned her son from having any swords or guns or anything that represented a weapon, now he's 14 and is hooked on violent computer games!

Violence is not nice, but children have to explore that concept for themselves! It's like saying they shouldn't play with cowboys and indians because of the massacre of indians!

Banning soft foam rockets is not going to stop real rockets from being fired against Third World Countries is it? If you feel that strongly about it all, do something useful and join Amnesty.

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 04/12/2006 21:48

thing is it sounds like it for adults and not for kids at all...can't see how it offends..

itschrismurftime · 04/12/2006 21:50

My boyfriend has got that for Christmas off his dad

kylester · 04/12/2006 21:51

As other people have said already - get over it. there are bigger issues in everyday life never bind the big bad world!!!
