See also footmen called by first names (which I think was not always their actual name!), butlers & valets called 'mr'.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/10/2015 21:13

Interesting. How do you know all this?

DArtsTart · 17/10/2015 21:18

Right - have just followed 4 of you (I think) ....

FancyFancy · 17/10/2015 21:20

I'm British. We accumulate stuff like this through osmosis in the womb.

Wink Probably from reading Dorothy L Sayers Peter Wimsey books or other period stuff. I like history.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/10/2015 21:22

Fancy Grin

Badders123 · 17/10/2015 21:23

Dart
I think footmen/butlers were always called the name of their predecessor so the poshos didn't have to go to the trouble of learning a new name.
I have no idea how I know so much irrelevant crap.
I'm very good at trivial pursuit though :)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/10/2015 21:26

WW it's the English class system, innit? It's in our DNA and we know these things automatically. Hmm Either than or the TV shows far too many period dramas so we can't avoid finding these things out. Grin

Ooooh, I have two pictures back.....

I have never seen an episode of DA

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/10/2015 21:36

France have fallen to pieces. It's going to be an all Southern hemisphere effort if Ireland don't beat Argentina tomorrow.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/10/2015 21:39

You know, my tits have been tense for several days now Hmm

Badders123 · 17/10/2015 21:44

Hope Losing o connell won't handwritten too much

FancyFancy · 17/10/2015 22:16

MrsEvadneCake · 17/10/2015 22:27

I've had an idea. Can I start a thread please? Swagger Inn Jukebox.

We could post YouTube/songs on it.

Thoughts please????

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/10/2015 22:28

Because they hurt?

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/10/2015 22:29

Tense wrong word?

LetUsPrey · 17/10/2015 22:40
MrsEvadneCake · 17/10/2015 22:42

Sore or tender maybe ww

FancyFancy · 17/10/2015 22:57

Ah yes I think minty has it, sore or tender. 'Tense' implies erm clenched like buttocks a muscle Grin.

My symapthies ww, mine are like that for so much of the month now, it can be miserable.

Fluffball13 · 17/10/2015 23:19

I've been trying to work out who you all are on twitter and have done some random following, but not entirely sure if I've got the right people. Hopefully you will follow me back and then I'll know.

FancyFancy · 17/10/2015 23:33

I can't help I'm afraid fluffy as I'm not on Twitter. Any more internet distractions & I'd probably forget to breathe or something

MrsEvadneCake · 17/10/2015 23:33
Fluffball13 · 17/10/2015 23:38

Oh that's a shame Fancy. Glad to know you in here anyway.
I'm clearly rubbish Mrs Cake. Might I ask for a hint?

Fluffball13 · 17/10/2015 23:44

Ooooh no, I think I've got it. Have another look for a Fluffball.

FancyFancy · 17/10/2015 23:45

Likewise fluffy.

Right, I should head off to bed, here's some goodnight Aramis. If I stare long enough I wonder if I can induce a sexy dream?
