Wenches know how to parteeeee. The 2015 Oktoberfest is in Munich. Now, who do we know who lives in Munich eh? Shall we transport ourselves over, virtually, using the Tardis? Or shall we just wench and party and have our own Musketeer tribute UK based Oktoberfest of our own?

Elk Couldn't we play piñata with Rochefort? Or whoever came up with the definition of 'sexier' for S2

I like your thinking WW - even if you're deluded about who he's looking at Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 05/10/2015 12:31

Aaah Helen Smile

Obs2015 · 05/10/2015 12:36

Thanks all for the perspective giving.
And the Athos pictures.
Have helped a lot.

Elk has summed up my feelings towards parties. EXACTLY. Grin
That's fuck for no piñata at Elkonbury Smile

I've decided to fuck-the-fuck-off with the party. I was only doing it because I felt obliged.
All that kid wants is KFC. Yes really. Dh asked him what he wanted.
He said an x box game, and KFC.
" I like chicken in a bucket. Please can I have chicken in a bucket, dad"?
(I either buy it from sainsburys, or a cheap KFC equivalent.)
So that's it. I've decided. Sod the parties. We've giving the kid what he wants. Chicken in a bucket!!

Is now the time to mention to you all that in the last year, I've invited 5 of his school friends round for tea.

And not a SINGLE ONE OF THEM has recriprocated.

My ds2 hasn't been invited on a 'playdate' for over a year.

Is now the time to mention this?

Probably not.

Hmm

Yes no no parties - it's about what DS wants. And sod playdates Obs - there's only two of DS's friends who ever invite him back and that's because we're friends as Mums, so we just inflict our DCs on each other while we gossip Grin I try to make an effort because DS is an only and likes to have friends about to play with, but pffft. I mostly fail.

Saying that, he's having one of the littler ones round this week so DS can help instruct him on how to play/use a popular computer game (I volunteered because I like the Mum and know that DS will love bossing helping the smaller one). I have no expectations of reciprocation.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/10/2015 12:45

"Yes no no parties"?? Hmm
"Yes TO no parties"

Badders123 · 05/10/2015 13:07

I've done parries when it's what the kids wanted, but as they get older they just want to eat and either see films or have a Nerf battle and pretend to shoot people of course this could just be my kids!
That's so rude, obs, re the play dates. I always reciprocate. It's called manners
I have done the ironing and am watching Amazon prime.

FancyFancy · 05/10/2015 14:30

I think elk has summarised my views on hosting kids parties. That party sounded like an absolute nightmare obs, not surprised he hated it. For years I've let mine choose what they want to do re: parties (within budget & agreed numbers obv Grin) - whether that's having a party, or just having some friends round for junk food/entertainment of their choice (a party by any other name, but sometimes kids are so literal and think 'party' means a set thing).

Am supposed to be 'working' in the library - some half-way decent men have just walked in - laters!!!!!

Cinnamoncookie · 05/10/2015 17:25

Oi, Porthos, you are officially designated as Packhorse until further notice, and it will be your job to carry me from place to place.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/10/2015 19:53

Sad Cinn did you get to the Dr yet?

Badders123 · 05/10/2015 20:33

Foot? What have I missed?

Cinnamoncookie · 05/10/2015 20:59

Alas no, Helen. All last week I was away from home on bonkersinsanejob. From today I am working differentyetequallyinsaneinadifferentway job. Might be able to do the telephone triage thing tomorrow, but realistically the first opportunity I have to see anyone is next friday.

Baddz, I have osteoarthritis. It is being very horrible.

LetUsPrey · 05/10/2015 21:04

Evening wenches

I don't like kids' parties either. Certainly not ones I've had at home. One child jumping on the settee with his shoes on about 30 seconds after he'd arrived. I don't think so. Another one who won a party game, unwrapped his prize, declared he didn't like the prize and held his hands out for another. Pfft. Don't even get me started on the fecking piñata.

Hope DS2 has a lovely birthday Obs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/10/2015 21:09
IssyStark · 05/10/2015 21:17

Hello again!!!! I have a phone!!!!! I can get onto the interwebs uninterrupted!!!

How have you all been?

obs can't believe the cheek of some people. If sibling isn't on invite, sibling isn't invited. It's not rocket science.

Ds2 has yet to have a party - I've just brought cakes and a pass the parcel into nursery and let them handle it! His birthday is just before Xmas and I'm not organised enough. Will try and do a half birthday party for him this summer as it will be almost the end of nursery

DS1 is rather into his parties (had a Doctor Who themed one last year) but luckily most of his friends are lovely (and those that were not haven't been invited again). On his 4.5th birthday (another Dec birthday) did find him upstairs with two friends 'reading' as they thought it was too mad downstairs, but he seems to have got through that phase and is now planning a Halloween party and apparently would like a Minecraft cake for his birthday Hmm

.

FancyFancy · 05/10/2015 21:23

I have never had a pinata at my DC's parties - over excited children hitting things with sticks? How can that possibly go wrong? Hmm

Yay for the new phone issy, boo for the poorly foot cinn

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/10/2015 21:25

'lo Issy welcome back to the internet - not much has changed. Grin

MadamedeChevreuse · 05/10/2015 21:28

Hello issy! Hello everywench!

Im doing an online mindfulness course as recommended by dr lyndie so I'm not around much in the evenings. It's very good. I'm on the acceptance train to innerpeaceville. Oh yes.

MadamedeChevreuse · 05/10/2015 21:33

Piñatas are omnipresent at children's parties in Spain. Ive got to say they work a lot better there. They come with strings hanging out, each kid grabs a string and pulls when the adult says go. Then the paper bottom comes out and all the sweets fall down. Piece of piss.

Every party I've been to here, the piñata is apparently made of reinforced concrete and the children beat it with sticks for 10 minutes solid which has no effect at all apart from to enrage the children.

Then the adult has to go find a pair of scissors / hacksaw and spend 10 minutes breaking the bloody thing open. Confused

FancyFancy · 05/10/2015 21:38

So are you all chillaxed madame, full of inner calm & balance and a sense of purpose?

I've been booking myself on courses too, had to stop myself from choosing too many and remember that the point of the courses is to help with job hunting, not to make me so busy I don't have time to look!

MadamedeChevreuse · 05/10/2015 21:41

I am fancy yes.

The course is pretty strong though on the unmindful nature of evil social media and how bad it is for you.

LetUsPrey · 05/10/2015 21:42

Oooo a Doctor Who themed party!

DS2 mentions every so often wanting a pool party at our local sports centre. I have so far managed to put this off.

Piñata finally breaks. Cue at least two children shouting "but they've had more turns than meeeeeeeee" with me biting my tongue so as not to shout "I don't fucking care!".

Does this help at all Madame?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/10/2015 21:46

Hmmm. Suspects Madame may find her acceptance train derailed by work tomorrow Wink but go for it Grin

Speaking of work, I am done for the night and turning off the screens.

snogs and parps all round as required...

FancyFancy · 05/10/2015 21:47

Well they are obviously not aware of the benefits of selected social media madame. Like this

Swagger Inn: Thread 112: Oktoberfest 2015 UK stylee wenches parteeeeee.
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/10/2015 21:50

PS - I vaguely recall one sensible party where, once the Piñata had been brutally beaten to death by screaming children, they had to gather up the sweets and put them into a big bucket. The contents were then split between party bags. all. v civilised. Though not the 'beating-a-concrete-donkey-to-death bit, that wasn't civilised.

Really - hairwash, sarnies, hayloft, ....

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 05/10/2015 22:12

OMC! Even the hat is f-ing sexy!!!

I'm supposed to have an early night Hmm
