SURELY man didn't really land on The Moon? It was 1969 fgs, they didn't even have remotes without wires...

We watched Independence Day last night (I like it and Bill Pullen as pres) and Dh and I agreed that surely the moon landings were a hoax. In 1969 there were no mobile phones, cds, remotes without wires, all sorts of other technologically advanced stuff. Computers were massive things with TAPES.

Surely we didn't really land on The Moon? Or am I being completely naive/stupid/technologically dense?

If we did, someone please explain HOW we did it with 1969 technology. TIA.

I stayed up to watch the 1969 Moon Landings with my Dad, I was 13. We both agreed it looked exactly like fake scenery in a Hollywood film studio. The "rocks" were definitely polystyrene painted grey and Buzz bounding in slow motion was just trick photography. The landing module was something off startrek.

Mirage · 30/11/2006 13:05

I'm in very unlunar Leicestershire.I know zilch about space & had forgotten that dh had told me he was having dinner with anyone, until I mentioned this thread & he reminded me.

I think 2 of them are English, but now naturalized US citizens, one is called Michael, the other Piers,no idea about the others. Will phone & ask.

Buzz Aldrin visited dh's work & was very nice-lewft dh a signed book.

Tell him I am jealous I don't have Buzz or Neil's autographs (Neil doesn't give them). I have just aquired David Scotts so those are the only two I have left.

Actually I have to congratulate all you ladies. 12 messages in and nobody has yet stooped to making the old "joke". You know, the one about sending us all there. I salute you! We have moved on!!

But here is a very interesting thing about the use of the expression in a "snowclone". Hands up who knew what a snowclone was before reading this. I didn't.

UnquietDad · 01/12/2006 22:21
