Am stuck at work with a Library chat session which seems to be going on and on.

Haven't yet prepped the Library for tomorrow's uni Open Days, so will have to bring dc in with me immediately after ds1's swimming lesson and do it then. Oh joy.

And we're walking home and there are tons on dark clouds and not even a DrIssy and a cocktail to look forward to.

Knicker debate: most of mine are big and black cotton but I have a few pairs which match bras, but mostly my bras are either still breastfeeding bras (although two do have matching knickers), or nude and do come with matching garments. Doesn't stop me fantasising over stuff that I would buy and wear if I had my life in order

Toddler and I are both sick so I've retreated to bed now.

I'm undecided on jeggings and treggings. Strictly no pale or acid wash but I like dark or black ones. And with long shirts or tops.

Ali DrIssy got ds1 a TP this summer and keeps trying to get him into fighting fantasy books as well.

Evening Dear God it's nice to have the DC back at school - finished off the cleaning today & took a load of stuff to the charity shop so feeling good. DS is out with friends, DD came home after her first day back all happy - she keeps one of her favourite subject teachers this year & was raving about a new one in another subject. She has even done some homework already. I will celebrate with teh customary large pile of ironing, large glass of wine & undemanding tv this evening.

Ref biff chip etcetera, ds1 had them!!! He's 18!! Are they still making kids read them?? My nephew has some Pearson bug club phonics books from his school which ties in with an online programme. Those are pretty good in my opinion, lots of non fic plus some Julia Donaldson plays and normal fiction.

Also, yes yes to 1) letting them see you read for enjoyment 2) let them pick what they want to read. I also really think people get obsessed by their kids being good readers early - some who lag a bit in ks1 are high flyers later. I think installing idea of reading for enjoyment most important at 6 yrs but then I'm not a teacher!
