...you dig out the skimpy little Pulling Frocks which have lain unworn in the drawer for the four years since you first got pregnant, and concede that it's time to get a few (remarkably few) inches shortened so that you can wear them as Attractive Yet Practical tops with jeans

OP posts:
LipstickMum · 10/05/2004 08:45

...ok, that's me then. I look at those old dresses and skirts of mine and cannot believe I wore them! They are so, so short,I'm not even sure how I carried out daily tasks looks puzzled

Lisa78 · 10/05/2004 08:49

trollops, the pair of you!
Us respectable middleaged mummies would never have worn them in the first place

LipstickMum · 10/05/2004 08:49

LOL You have a point Lisa

toddlerbob · 10/05/2004 09:28

Yep, wore the pulling frock I met my dh in as a maternity top. Scary stuff.

juniper68 · 10/05/2004 09:36

Roflmao

I've just put one in the air ambulance charity bag this morning. Was debating whether to make it into a cushion cover and decided couldn't be a

NomDePlume · 10/05/2004 09:44

I'm just about to have a clearout of the wardrobes actually, spooky !

Pointless clinging onto gorgeous things that are either

a) too small for me (so small that I would never have a hope in hell of fitting me no matter how many lbs I lost !)

or

b) Skimpy and revealing of navel (YIKES!)

juniper68 · 10/05/2004 10:04

Like the new name

I used to be ultra skinny but always had a pot tum so no navel bearing for me

Piffleoffagus · 10/05/2004 10:23

I knew when I had more cardigans than mini skirts, and also the prevalence of lots of elastic waists...
xx kiwi with new name

NomDePlume · 10/05/2004 10:27

Thanks Juniper

Mumski · 10/05/2004 21:51

I hit 45 - threw out all my elasticated waisted stuff and vowed to just buy bigger sizes. Then to make sure I didn't fall for the respectable middle age bit I bought a Mazda RX8. Am now rummaging in black bin bags to retrive elasticated waists as car so low down I can't get out in tight jeans! How sad is that?

gothicmama · 10/05/2004 21:53

when you buy comfy shoes and ditch the excessive 4in heels

gothicmama · 10/05/2004 22:08

also underwear is functional and not glam skirts are long not short tops are baggy and not tight

maisystar · 10/05/2004 22:11

the time that you go to bed(11 ish) used to be the time that you went out and the time that you get up (7 ish) used to be the time that you got in

zaphod · 10/05/2004 22:24

You wear sensible one piece swimsuits instead of bikinis, no matter how hot it is.

eddm · 10/05/2004 22:29

On those very rare occasions when you go out your key criteria for a pub is 'will we be able to sit down'...

maisystar · 10/05/2004 22:32

oh god, i do that! and also is it too noisy!

Cam · 11/05/2004 10:09

.....or smoky......

Codswallop · 11/05/2004 10:35

you are an expert on lakeland
you go out to a sherry and tapas night at your local waotrose (yes last night!! hammered)

Crunchie · 11/05/2004 10:37

Thank god for that I have not reached any of your critera yet OK the odd skirt has had to go, but that is fashion, not legs. I bought a great new dress yesterday which has such a low V front it almost shows my navel from the other direction I have never/will never resort to elasticated waists - unless on trendy wide legged yoga pants And my heels are still 4" at least

I am smug I am smug I am smug

OK now you are all going to tell me what a slut I am, but I don't care, I am mutton dressed as lamb quite obviously, but stuff it I still wear my hair in bunches if I feel like it

NomDePlume · 11/05/2004 10:40

PMSL @ Coddy's Tapas and Sherry night out at waitrose

Freddiecat · 11/05/2004 10:50

crunchie that sounds like a practical breastfeeding dress

Codswallop · 11/05/2004 10:52

we were bladdered

doubly sad.

Cam · 11/05/2004 10:54

Oh Crunchie, I'm always covered up with flat shoes and a boring ponytail. Think am a founder member of middleaged mummery club this time around.

Crunchie · 11/05/2004 10:56

Thanks Freddiecat I knew it would come in handy I had to buy it as it looked fab and I felt soooo sexy in it, but I must say when I got it home I looked at it and thought - when the hell will I wear this

aloha · 11/05/2004 11:03

Coddy - can you remember Michelle's husband's name? I need to put it in a feature I'm writing (honest) and I know you are a fan of the teak-effect one...
