I'm finding it very messy to remove, empty and clean out (have emptied it twice today). I cannot imagine doing it in a public toilet.

It also feels very big when inserted, despite folding it up etc as advised in the leaflet. It really isn't as easy to use as I was expecting. It also feels quite big inside, I've jiggled it about to get it more comfortable but I can definitely feel it in there, unlike a tampon.

I can't believe anyone has problems with tampons, mine never leak or make me dry or sore AT ALL.

Mooncup sounds like a great big faff imo.

mustrunmore · 07/11/2006 13:46

Sorry! Take it as a compliment! Maybe you have a very mature mn name?

NomDePlume · 07/11/2006 13:47

that'll be it, mrm

Heathcliffscathy · 07/11/2006 13:48

yes but your tampons go floating in the see and bothering the dolphins olive.

and i always run out of tampons.

NomDePlume · 07/11/2006 13:48

I don't have problems with tampons, oo. That's not why I tried the mc. I wanted to a) stop putting manky, bloody tampons into the sea/landfill and b) save a few ££ in the long run.

NDP - Do you squat down on the floor? Bear down on it and shove it aorund inside a bit til it feels secure. And it helps if you put it in when it's wet. I run mine under the hot tap before putting it in.
I know the sick feeling too, I just keep going to the loo to move it around a bit. It does get better

NomDePlume · 07/11/2006 13:49

lol @ floating in the see !

oliveoil · 07/11/2006 13:49

mine go in the bin so don't bother any cute ickle fish

Heathcliffscathy · 07/11/2006 13:49

you were your name but in english beginning with an s before weren't you?

i had you down as one of the OLD grand dames of mn.

you're still a grand dame but a very young one!

NomDePlume · 07/11/2006 13:50

I've been putting it in whilst I'm actually sat on the loo, so I am sort of squatting, yes. I did wet it first but then I found that it kept slipping out of my fingers or popping open at the 11th hour

OP posts:
oliveoil · 07/11/2006 13:50

well yes, landfil but you know, how far do you want to take being green?? IMO tampax make life easier, far better than faffing about spilling gunk everywhere.

And I don't drive or fly on planes so ner!

NomDePlume · 07/11/2006 13:51

Nope, you have me confused with someone else, I think. But I have been here for 3.5 years. I started out as WickedStepMother.

pmsl at shoving it around doolittle!

sorry about see everybody.

MrsDoolittle · 07/11/2006 13:53

I still can't put it in when hovering over the loo. Squat down in your bathroom with it wet and warm

NomDePlume · 07/11/2006 13:54

mrsd ! Sounds positively pornographic

Had to use tampons one month earlier this year (had a wacky cycle and was caught away on holiday without my mooncup) and my word, how annoying. Full of leaky blechness not to mention having to carry them around with me. I started using Keeper/mooncup years ago out of treehuggy impulses but would use it now just because it's so much nicer and so much less faff.

mustrunmore · 07/11/2006 13:56

yuck yuck yuck, I'm going back off the idea again!

MrsDoolittle · 07/11/2006 13:57

And I know the popping open thing, which is why I have to do it squatting down. You have to move pretty quickly, their flighty little critters!

(this does sound quite graphic )

NomDePlume · 07/11/2006 13:57

[grimacing] at the thought of squatting on the floor of a public loo.

mustrunmore · 07/11/2006 13:57

If they weren't so pricey, i'd prob give it a go ie a fiver tops!!
