Help ! things beginning with 'O'

Right, feeling a bit dense today - my ds has got to take into school something beginning with 'O' - I haven't got any oranges in the house (but can buy one on my way to school if need be) we don't own an octopus or otter - I just can't think. Any suggestions - he has to be there by 12.30 so I'm running out of time.

oxygen (in empty plastic bottle)

roisin · 29/04/2004 10:57

I love your list collision .. not sure why oboe deserves an exclamation mark rather than ostrich or offal or omelette as suitable things for a child to take to school.

(From an educational point of view, does it need to be a phonetic 'o' sound - so oxo cube and orange juice are good, oatcakes and ocean are not?! )

gold123 · 29/04/2004 10:57

Its a tricky one isn't it, I don't have many of these things in my house, I like the idea of the omlette, but he may look a bit stupid carrying in one of those, I do have a plastic orange juice carton (toy one) so I think that will do - if no more come to mind. I found a wooden shape in his building blocks and asked him what he though it was and he replied rectangle so there goes the oblong. Any more ?

GO WITH THE OMELETTE......loads of kids will take oranges and juice etc The teacher will be so impressed with the omelette and ds will be v proud of you for making it!

Dont know why oboe got a !

gold123 · 29/04/2004 11:03

roisin - I don't think it matters, but from an understanding point of view it would make more sense if it began with what sounded like 'o' (as in oxo) why counldn't they have picked 'A' or something - this is doing my head in

Yes, go on - do an omelette!

gold123 · 29/04/2004 11:06

my dh suggested that he took in a Olive which is a plumming fitting (brass band - a bit like a wedding ring) so he could impress the teacher with his broad knowledge of how to plumb in a radiator at the age of 4. He's gone to work and not left one. Right where are those eggs ? chesse, spanish or plain ?

find a picture of Roman Abramovich in the paper. He's an Oligarch (that'll flummox the litte ones!)

gold123 · 29/04/2004 11:25

Countessdracula - I don't even know who he is !
Collision - I love the idea, but I'm afraid they may think I'm mad. I have just opened the fridge and found an onion, so that will do - thanks for all the suggestions, youve made me laugh today.

roisin · 29/04/2004 11:44

Please do the omelette gold123 ...! At least they will always remember you, which can be a bonus in primary schools.
