Just been this morning and as DS2 was asleep in his car seat, I left him in there and went to get one of the trolleys that car seats go in
None there
Went to customer services to be told they were all withdrawn yesterday...
How stupid is that? So its wake them to go in the other trolleys - if they are old enuf - or let them wobble precariously in the normal trolleys, or carry them?
Or go to Sainsburys

Do they not have any of the ones with a big plastic seat, like a car seat but fixed in, in one of the toddler seats? I always thought those were pretty sturdy though perhaps not for a newborn.

Lisa78 · 20/04/2004 15:57

yes they do badhair, but I didn't want to wake him up
Not my carseat twiglett - I thought I was being clever trying to improvise already!!! Don't care, am off to Sainsburys on Thursday instead, so ner to Tescos! When I was pregnant, the nice people in Sainsburys would pack my shopping and wheel it out to the car AND unload it into the car for me, without me even asking

Glad I'm not the only one currenly pissed off with Tesco - their profits just add fuel to my fire. I have mentioned before, they have changed their exchange policy so, if you are stupid enough to buy things that don't fit and you can't find the receipt (me) they won't even exchange or give vouchers - you are just left with clothes that don't fit. I haven't been into a tesco since - I used to buy all my food and many clothes (all school clothes), electrical items, birthday cards, paint, household items etc. etc. from there but for a £30 exchange they have lost out - if they piss everyone off like this their profits won't be so healthy next time will they!!

Sonnet · 20/04/2004 16:36

Can't believe that Jaybee - they don't even give vouchers...
Vote with your feet/money girls

Well, I complained about it - nicely - and the only response I got was they must have had a reason cos they are a very family orientated store.... (WHAT? The parent and child parking is quite far from the door, which I don't mind so much, but it is on a REALLY steep hill - which I do mind). I asked what sort of reason and they suggested they could have developed a fault...
Very reassuring - have only been using them for last 5 months....

And annual profits of £1.7 BILLION
Is a trolley really too much to ask?

Jaybee - that is disgusting, sounds like they are too cocky to me. Remember when M and S launched its own credit card and refused visa etc...

well, our tescos now clamp and fine £120 if you park in p&t or disabled and you're not meant to.

Jaybee · 20/04/2004 16:41

Sonnet - too right - I have done. It is a pain in the bum as there is an enormous Tesco just up the road from my work but I won't go - no Asda near here either more is the pity.

hercules · 20/04/2004 16:42

Bloody awful about no exchange though - not very friendly.

On the subject of Tescos, does anyone think that 2 1k bags of natural nuts is an appropriate substitution for 2 leeks? No, me neither. Especially when the leeks were actually in with my shopping and the nuts weren't, but I'd been charged for both.

Lisa78 · 20/04/2004 17:12

no I don't - did you complain?

Soupy - that's exactly why I switched to Sainsburys To You delivery service rather than Tescos - bloody stupid unintuitive random substitutions. At least Sainsburys get it in the rough ballpark of what you asked for even if still wrong...

Finbar · 20/04/2004 17:27

vote with your purses sisters!!

BadHair · 20/04/2004 17:35

Agree that tesco home shopping is utterly useless when it comes to substitutions - ever noticed how they never subsitute anything that costs less than what you wanted?

Have to say though that I got a pair of pentax binoculars in the tesco bargain bins for £4 last week. And I got a king sized duvet set that should have been reduced to £8 for FREE as the barcode rang it up as £15. Didn't notice till I'd paid for all my shopping, so took it to the customer servs desk expecting a refund of £7, only to get the full £15 back, as their policy is that if you are overcharged you get the full amount back plus the goods! Yaaay! Customer service attitude was abysmal though - woman looked like she'd just chewed a wasp.

lou33 · 20/04/2004 17:40

Soups, tesco once substituted dh's nicotine gum with a packet of crisps.

Lisa78 · 20/04/2004 17:46

no Lou? You have got to be kidding?! Sorry, but couldn't help but laugh

Lisa78, I agree Tesco's are pretty crap ... I don't have a Sainsbury's on the doorstep but give my vote to ASDA for child-friendly service. A friend of mine with triplets contacted them to see if they could provide her with a special triplet trolley because shopping was becoming an increasing nightmare ... and they agreed!! they even provided a special storage place for it - how good is that?

Lisa78 · 20/04/2004 18:06

about a million times better than bloody tescos
My local asda is about the size of a shed though

OP posts:
littlemissbossy · 20/04/2004 18:27

well a shed's still better than Tesco's

lou33 · 20/04/2004 19:02

No, honestly Lisa they did! Lower fat too.

Lisa78 · 20/04/2004 19:44

Oh well Lou - if they were lower fat, thats alright then....

Just saw the ITN news, singing Tesco's praises - are they taking the piss or what?!
