Bloody hell, I posted that hours ago - have been and come back from dog walk. Off to make a cup if tea

IntheBleakMiladyBeeeWinter · 06/12/2014 11:35

Where is the trailer then eh?? Fucking fan sites. Did they just assume / make it up? It is early for the Beeb to be putting out a trailer for an after new year show.

The thing on Weds was a press screening. First episode so journos could see it and interviews so they write about it rather than ignore. I think (Carolina will know?) that after that they just get sent it to watch a few days in advance for TV review sites. Maybe they showed the trailer at the screening but not for TV / release yet?

FancyFancy · 06/12/2014 11:56

Morning (just about) everyone.

Am dressed and have had breakfast, but that's about all I've done today. It's so frosty here today I took one look outside and went back to bed with a book.

Confession: I didn't make the gifs, that's beyond me! I just found them.

SantisLittleHelper · 06/12/2014 12:00

Been for a run brrrrrrrrr.

Now THIS is more like it!!!! Christmas Radio Times woooohoooooooo Wine

CarolSinger200 · 06/12/2014 12:06

The press screening may or may not have been the entire first episode though I would think, with the release date not too far away it will have been.

Long rant coming up so I apologise in advance.

I admit I am a little hacked off this morning now that the Spoiler TV site has a whole slew of pics up but not one single one is HQ. All have been resized down.

The powers that be need to realise that everyone knows and has done for years that HQ versions of all these pics exist so why do they not... even after the embargo date has passed - release at least some promo shots in HQ. The episode spoiler shots could still be kept under wraps but the posed promos would satisfy so many fans. They don't give the plot away.

As I recall, after the first episode screened in the US, BBC America released quite a few HQ pics in dribs and drabs but the BBC here in the UK seems to treat it's viewers like the poor relations.

This is why sites like the Faraway site exist. Fans want at least some HQ pics not the wishy washy small pictures that get doled out.

If the corporation were to give a little instead of just grabbing our licence fees and playing God with it them perhaps they wouldn't have to worry about people creeping in the back door of their BBC Pictures website and snagging some beautiful pictures.

I am sure fans of this and other series would be over the moon and appreciative if just a few nice big pictures were to come their way via the legitimate source and it would perhaps discourage them from going to illegal sources to see them. It would give the control back to the corporation and various other image agencies.

The same applies to recorded interviews. Recently, the Classic FM interview was not available on their site. BritAngie and I think maybe some other fans e-mailed and, lo and behold, it came back basically as a 'Here ya go. Go download to your hearts content cause the show has already aired. Have it on us' During promos for S1, the lads were on Steve Wright in the afternoon. Has that EVER been made available for download. NO! The show aired months ago and the podcast will eventually disappear from the site unless it already has but could it be downloaded? NO! BBC says 'It's our ball and you can't play with it' even though that show will never be aired ever again.

How long did it take for someone to be able root out the 'One Show' video and the 'Sunday Brunch'. Bloody ages.

The BBC needs to be a bit more sharing with it's goodies otherwise many people who otherwise love the fact we have some ad free TV might find themselves thinking twice and coming down on the side of those wanting to stop the licence fee next time that suggestion is put forward.

Rant over and normal service resumed!

FancyFancy · 06/12/2014 12:36

Ooh, nice. I might have to buy the Radio Times this year.

Agreed carolina, I love ad free TV and the freedom that the license fee has given the BBC from excessive ratings chasing in the past. There's so much anti-BBC guff in other media, much of it whipped up - I feel - by Murdoch and other multi-media brands who would love to see the license fee go. Murdoch moans about the BBC having a competitive advantage as though his own business practises are squeaky clean, but has used heavy cross subsidies from his other companies other to enable SkyTV to become so dominant.

Sorry, ranting must be contagious!

Right, need to persuade DS to come Christmas shopping with me soon. I think this will require patience, ingenuity and sheer bloody-mindedness. And bribery obviously.

Have a good afternoon everyone, with plenty of Brew and Cake to keep yourselves warm. Hope all those suffering with illnesses are feeling better and that MrO is recovering well.

RudolphTheRedNosedElk · 06/12/2014 12:39

better?

fancy I don't care that you didn't make it.....you found it and served it up on a silver platter surrounded by peeled grapes and caviar and you are now officially my favourite wench.

Interesting take carolina....food for thought. Apart from drip fed pics from Jess pope over twitter, and now finally the media pack, there has been nothing for British fans. Very stingy. I'm putting it down to Tom and Santiago throwing luvvie hissy fits and refusing point blank to do Sunday Brunch again. South Africa's a long way but at least they got a safari thrown in Hmm.

Anyway, we need a plan for the 16th. Have you any suggestions where to meet for a bucket of proseecco coffee?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 06/12/2014 12:39

Photogate? Back from the dancing. Some poor parents with feral children, makes you grateful for the ones you have especially as you can't sell them on.

IntheBleakMiladyBeeeWinter · 06/12/2014 12:40

I agree. If anything quality pics and vids enhance the shows fan base. But then we pay licence fee here, so they don't have to try?

I do get why they don't want the spoiler pics out there. But it's the same as when they took down the CzechAnglo production FB pics.

FancyFancy · 06/12/2014 12:50

Aww, thanks elk

so true drink, there's nothing like having to spend time with other people's children to make you appreciate your own little shits darlings

I really need to stop putting off getting DS to come shopping, there will be much Kevin the teenager sighing and huffing. Although if he says 'it's so unfair' I shall laugh inappropriately.

Someone kick me off the computer please

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 06/12/2014 12:53

Thanks elk and MrsBeeee. That's a little better.

Go fancy, go. And have a lovely festive coffee.

FancyFancy · 06/12/2014 12:56

Thank you mouse, I know when I've been told!

He's just emerged from his pit, so will grab him now and bribe him with food.

LastComtessIGaveYouMyHeart · 06/12/2014 13:05

Oh poor Mouse . Snuggle down.

Agree with Carolina and Mrs B. Though honestly I wouldn't know what to do with the hq pics but some amazing people do.

Also, Sparks is now officially JP's go-to twatterer. So I am sooooo sticking to the SG plan on Twitter

Beautiful cold but sunny day here. Mr C seems to be having a competitive dad comp with Dad from other team that he knows. Not about the rugby but ref the fact we have done fuck all ref Christmas organising. 'We're more chaotic and disorganised that you' etc. We are doing it tomorrow you silly man. .

I've organised a lock in tomorrow. Noones going out. No one is visiting. We are doing the tree, decs, cards, online shopping and wrapping stuff we've got. All hands on deck. No one gets to shirk. Whilst I blast out The Nutcracker music. I will break the chaos!!!!!

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 06/12/2014 13:08

I love the competitive disorganisation.

ApriClausIsComingToTown · 06/12/2014 13:14

Very well said Carolina. It seems we have to fight for everything from the BBC and yet we are funding them. The pics Jess Pope gave us on Twitter, whilst welcome and much appreciated, were very tiny and poor quality.

The Spoiler TV ones are HQ if you click on them.

Sorry any excuse

Thanks for the Radio Times scan Sparks.

CarolSinger200 · 06/12/2014 13:18

Indeed Elk. Plans must be made for beverage intake prior to carols. Lest we forget, we will be getting mulled wine on arrival and a mince pie - possibly a Waitrose luxury mince pie even!

I noted from the 2012 event pictures that Tom was clutching a bottle of water whilst munching on his mince pie so am guessing we won't be able to pour a few pints of mulled wine down his throat and haul him off for some after-carol activity!

I am not sure what's around in the area so will google when I get back from shopping (food not Christmas) and post some suggestions.

Last thought on the leaked pictures then I will shut up. For access to the BBC Pictures site where they were taken from, you have to be a journalist attached to a particular publication. No freelancers, students or members of the public can gain accreditation. Therefore, the leaked pictures either came from someone the BBC have granted access to that site or from someone at the BBC. HA! What have you got to say about that Auntie Beeb? Grin

CarolSinger200 · 06/12/2014 13:21

Apes... that's new. I clicked on every single one when I went in early this morning.

Hope they didn't read my rant. Can the BBC actually block the single into someone's living room? Confused

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 06/12/2014 13:37

They're always watching, Carolina, allllllways watching

SantisLittleHelper · 06/12/2014 13:41

I agree re all this promo stuff. I feel like we are the poor relations here in the UK. I know it's because selling the show worldwide is making them a shedload of money whereas our audience doesn't - but STILL. We are the 'home' fans & it needs a higher profile here.

Maybe they'll surprise us over the next few weeks. I can't help but feel like it's going to be swallowed up by all the Christmas stuff on the telly though....

Anywayz. Somwench tell me...the Spoiler TV pics are safe, right? As in, not spoilerish? Cos God knows I feel like the only non-drinker at this party right now Hmm

Oh & Comtess Wink softly softly catchy monkey, eh?

ApriClausIsComingToTown · 06/12/2014 13:50

No Sparks some are the promo shots, but there are a lot of spoilers.

FlopsyTheSnowman · 06/12/2014 14:08

Afternoon wenchi, I got up begrudgingly this morning for a stint at the sidelines to find out the match was cancelled due to poor pitch conditions. I only. Found out when fully dressed and in the fecking car. I hate getting up on a Saturday.

Anyhow, I did sit with a brew (one sugar) and open a very lovely card so all's well that ends well.

I missed all the trailer and pic palaver last night, I could feel your angst reading it back though.

I'm debating putting the tree up today but the house is such a tip I'll have to clean before I can do anything

Layers lubbers.

FlopsyTheSnowman · 06/12/2014 14:09

Helloooooooo big boy. Xmas Grin
