The press screening may or may not have been the entire first episode though I would think, with the release date not too far away it will have been.
Long rant coming up so I apologise in advance.
I admit I am a little hacked off this morning now that the Spoiler TV site has a whole slew of pics up but not one single one is HQ. All have been resized down.
The powers that be need to realise that everyone knows and has done for years that HQ versions of all these pics exist so why do they not... even after the embargo date has passed - release at least some promo shots in HQ. The episode spoiler shots could still be kept under wraps but the posed promos would satisfy so many fans. They don't give the plot away.
As I recall, after the first episode screened in the US, BBC America released quite a few HQ pics in dribs and drabs but the BBC here in the UK seems to treat it's viewers like the poor relations.
This is why sites like the Faraway site exist. Fans want at least some HQ pics not the wishy washy small pictures that get doled out.
If the corporation were to give a little instead of just grabbing our licence fees and playing God with it them perhaps they wouldn't have to worry about people creeping in the back door of their BBC Pictures website and snagging some beautiful pictures.
I am sure fans of this and other series would be over the moon and appreciative if just a few nice big pictures were to come their way via the legitimate source and it would perhaps discourage them from going to illegal sources to see them. It would give the control back to the corporation and various other image agencies.
The same applies to recorded interviews. Recently, the Classic FM interview was not available on their site. BritAngie and I think maybe some other fans e-mailed and, lo and behold, it came back basically as a 'Here ya go. Go download to your hearts content cause the show has already aired. Have it on us' During promos for S1, the lads were on Steve Wright in the afternoon. Has that EVER been made available for download. NO! The show aired months ago and the podcast will eventually disappear from the site unless it already has but could it be downloaded? NO! BBC says 'It's our ball and you can't play with it' even though that show will never be aired ever again.
How long did it take for someone to be able root out the 'One Show' video and the 'Sunday Brunch'. Bloody ages.
The BBC needs to be a bit more sharing with it's goodies otherwise many people who otherwise love the fact we have some ad free TV might find themselves thinking twice and coming down on the side of those wanting to stop the licence fee next time that suggestion is put forward.
Rant over and normal service resumed!
