What are they? Names, ages please!

I've got a ginger cat called Eric and he's nearly 10. Got him originally because we had mice in our last flat and despite the fact he never caught one (he's not very bright) he did "scare them away.

I received some worms through the post today too! Blasted postman rang the doorbell at 6.50am, which of course set the dog off. Fortunately DS1 was already up and took delivery of live consignment. Bet he wouldn't have done if he'd known what they were

Two Siamese - Muscat, a 9 year old chocolate point, and Cleo, a 5 month old chocolate tabbie point. Muscat's brother Leo, a wonderful big softie, died 2 months ago - he was an enormous chocolate tabbie point, who made his sister look small. We joke about that now, as she looks enormous compared to the kitten.

By coincidence, their breeders had JUST started breeding again after a 9 year gap - and by another coincidence, the only kitten left was another chocolate tabbie point, whose pedigree name was Cleo. It would have been morbid to CHOOSE a name that was so close to the cat that she was replacing - but as she was already called that.... ! Fate

Ds loves the kitten - she is small enough and pliant enough for him to pick up. And even the older cat has got a lot more cuddly. (Her brother had been the cuddles cat).

Janh · 15/04/2004 13:36

Jan, I saw a cat recently that had sort-of-Siamese colouring - chocolate tabby point describes it almost exactly (v pale chocolate though) - and blue eyes, but not Siamese shape at all, just ordinary cat shape, and with long hair. Would you know what kind that is? It was beautiful!

Janh · 15/04/2004 13:48

Have been googling - think it's a Birman (never heard of it!)

Metrobaby · 15/04/2004 13:52

One small black and white cat (adopted as a stray). Dh however can't stand it

motherinferior · 15/04/2004 13:56

A selection of revolting squirrels in the garden, an itinerant fox and occasionally a MOUSE (eek). But nothing domesticated so far, although we keep making vague noises about getting a cat.

Janh · 15/04/2004 14:02

We have a snake called Ken and 2 gerbils called the gerbies. Massive amounts of imagination in our house.

JanZ · 15/04/2004 16:19

Janh - my thought was Birman - but you came up with that anyway!

A chocolate tabby point just means that that the "points" (ie the face, legs and tail) are like a chocolate tabby cat, ie stripy tail and legs and a stripy face with idally a nice "M" on the forehead, with the darker colour of the stripes should be a milk chocolate colour, but the base colour is a paler colour. It makes for a beautiful cat! (at least I think so!)

Benjaminsmummy, our cat is allergic to flea bites too. Worst was when his whole mouth swelled up. Also got stung by a bee on his foot (he trod on it in the garden) and couldn't walk properly for days it was so swollen. Then he climbed up on something, forgot he had a sore foot so landed awkwardly when he jumped down and injured his shoulder. He's not got much of a brain

Very avid hunter

mez75 · 15/04/2004 21:26

A very lively 2 year old Border collie called Rommel,Monty the 7 year old cat (Dh named both, something about the war ) and an 8yr old rabbitt/hare called toffee).

Paula71 · 15/04/2004 22:52

A three month old pup called Tag who is a boxer cross (crossed with what we don't know, think maybe a dobe? We got him from the SSPCA, his mum was a boxer though, for definite.)

A four year old cat called Paris who is fairly disgusted at this new arrival. It was bad enough when we brought home ds twins and he realised his days of being King were over. Now we have brought this home and looks like he is staying too, Paris is insulted. We did have Paris' sister, Diesel until she was stolen by a greyhound trainer, along with a few other neighbourhood cats. Poor D, she had a heart condition too, which I hope meant she died before it got too awful.

BadHair · 15/04/2004 23:10

One 7 year old cat, Squirt, who came to live with us just 3 weeks ago. He's meant to be catching mice in return for a cushty home, but seems to prefer sleeping and eating like a small horse.

goosey · 15/04/2004 23:15

A rescue staffordshire bull terrier cross english bull terrier called Skye. Brilliant with people, loves children, eats other dogs.

stupidgirl · 15/04/2004 23:24

What a horrible story Paula

We have 2 gorgeous rescue cats - Muriel and Miriam - (aged about 7 and 4 1/2). Muriel has kind of tabby/tortie markings, Miriam is a tabby and white, but tiny. She was only 1 1/2 when we got her and both had had kits already.

We also have 2 guinea pigs, named Thunder and Lightening (1 black and one white/sandy colour with pink eyes), though they're usually just refered to as the 'piggies'. We got them last summer aged a year old from neighbours who heard we were thinking about getting some and offered us theirs. Unfortnately they had spent most of their lives not being handled and they are bad-tempered little sods.

Oh, and incidently it costs me around £80 to have the 2 cats annual vax's, and that's coming up next month...

Thomcat · 15/04/2004 23:28

Badhair - LOL at Squirt - a bit visual!!!!

We have a mad cat called FLetcher. He's very handsome, black and white and about 5 yrs old.

Would love to have a dog.

I used to have a boxer and a Jack Russell who loved each other so much

squirmyworm · 15/04/2004 23:43

goosey I love staffies they have such kind faces... we have 2 gorgeous cats - a huge black behemoth and a long slinky ginger half siamese (who is tail less as of last month). I love them to bits. If I ever got a dog I'd get a greyhound as long as it could behave itself around the cats

squirmyworm · 15/04/2004 23:44

oh god paula I've just seen your story - how awful I didn't know that kind of thing went on

tallulah · 16/04/2004 14:47

4 lovebirds- Lemon & Lime, Pingu (L&L's baby) & Kiki
2 cockateils- Stevie & Buddy
4 cats- Keziah (aged 7) & her son Smeagoll (5) who is known as Mister Norman Smeagoll (by DH- no idea why!) or Norm for short; Buffy (4) a very fluffy tortie who is very timid & Russell (2.5- DH again!) a ginger & white bully.
1 bouncy 30kg Rhodesian Ridgeback pup called Portia who is now 8 months old.

Too many pets: too many kids

carwillin · 16/04/2004 14:53

No pets though DS thinks he has 6 cats!! We bought him some cat biscuits so he can feed the cats in the village and when he shakes the box they come running!! Great way to not have pets and keep ds sweet!

Posey · 16/04/2004 22:13
