hmb - a friend of dp organises outward bound courses for pupil referral units, so we have them in this country, sort of.

Why has canoeing been seen as a solution to challenging behaviour for so long?!!

aloha · 24/03/2004 15:14

ooh, it is good isn't it. Last night they showed Fran having her nitty dreadlocks cut off again while she sobbed, and dh said, 'I'm so glad they showed that again, aren't you?" YES! I don't feel remotely sorry for any of them - they feel so sorry for themselves it seems redundant. And they are so incredibly nasty. Fran loved to push her mother around and hit her, yet it's all 'poor me' in the desert. Bring on the electric cattle prods!
Twinkie - I was also shouting, 'redecorate that bedroom' at the screen when Fran's deflated looking mum was showing it to us.
Charlie likes lighting fires a bit too much for my liking....

beansprout · 24/03/2004 15:16

I used to go out with a James looky-likey too! And he was an arrogant sh*t (rock) too. Give me Fran any day at least she would row with you instead of actually believing herself to be superior to you, in a Fonfe sty-lie.

Can you imagine the stick James would have got had he be growing up in the 70's with "Happy Days" still on the box?

Twinkie · 24/03/2004 15:19

Beansprout, was his name Adam???

Aloha - lurve the idea of cattle prods!! - and UI mean Frans room what does her mother expect if she had let her spray grafitti in the house - the little shit!! (Rock!!)

beansprout · 24/03/2004 15:23

Twinkie - no, his name was James too! His favourite, loving phrase was "oh get over it", which could apply to any situation, even when something really horrible was happening. But I digress....

Shall we set up our own Brat Camp? I offer my back garden, we can charge loads of money, give ourselves hippy aliases - who's up for it?

katierocket · 24/03/2004 15:27

I'm in beansprout - will need to grown hair to allow for plaits and also eat more mung beans.

beansprout · 24/03/2004 15:30

Don't worry, mung beans are optional for us, we can just pop indoors and eat what we want (as I suspect the hippies do). I mean, I don't believe that Doc Dan, who won't even inconvenience himself by holding a phone to his head, then goes off into the desert and lives off that powdered crap.

Our brat camp, our rules. Cattle prods are compulsory though.

katierocket · 24/03/2004 15:34

beansprout - he certainly loves his hands free kit doesn't he.

will also have to practice very calming voice and speaking sli...ght....ly slow....er

beansprout · 24/03/2004 15:41

Eugh, don't buy that speaking slowly stuff either. I know someone who talks like that and it just gives me the creeps.

Do you think I would need to bring in the shed in case they used it for shelter?

Twinkie · 24/03/2004 15:50

Yep (Charlie would have a go at burning it down!!) and the little tikes playhouse - wouldn't trust them not to graffiti that!!

Have you got a bloodhound just in case they try to escape down the back alley

Coddy could take part and show them how easy it is to eat dry muesli!!

beansprout · 24/03/2004 15:54

No bloodhound, but we could always use chains? And I don't think I will be awarding Charlie or somesuch brat a knife for good behaviour - dur!!

Dry museli? Coddy? Really? I can't even do that with a cream cracker. Am actually impressed.
We shall name you "museli muncher".

beansprout · 24/03/2004 15:55

Also, does anyone have access to legal advice? I know the police/social services can get funny about these things.

Maybe that's why they are in the Utah desert?

hmb · 24/03/2004 16:24

Lol. My brother used to do outward bound stuff with 'difficult' kids.

We do D of E in school. Have to say that it is mostly the nice kids that do it.

I can think of a couple of kids in school who would be helped by this sort of no shit survival stuff.

One of the managers is half Native American in brat camp, the rest just like the plats I think!

C4 have the online chat that 3 of them did yesterday. they all thought that the staff were great. And they all couldn't stand Fran.

Janh · 24/03/2004 17:24

Oh, I went looking for that after the prog and had to reboot before I got there and then forgot (very small brain) - shall go and see right now.

Coddy · 24/03/2004 18:07

why am I cast as a muesli mucher?

OP posts:
katierocket · 24/03/2004 18:52

coddy - didn't you say you didn't like milk with muesli on other thread?
don't think it is a comment on you personally

beansprout · 24/03/2004 19:15

Just me being impressed at anyone being able to eat museli without milk
