I hope to goodness I don't offend anyone but the other thread got me thinking of funny names I've come across and wonder if you've got any corkers to share.

The ones I can remember off the top of my head are:
Rose Bush (a lifeguard at my ex-local pool)
Dr. Nurse
Barry Raspberry (both doctors I worked with)
John Thomas (a patient)
Dickie Fluck (a friend of a friend)

Any more genuine ones?

A client where I used to work was called Richard Scratcher. That was a source of great amusement amongst the staff

My parents used to know a young woman with the surname "Onions" and (this is no joke) the guy she married was called Philip Leek. So she went from Onions to Leek....

There is a bench in Princes Street gardens in Edinburgh dedicated to the memory of Margaret Mary Twatt.

Honest! I am not kidding. When we found it we fell about laughing and used to re-visit when we visted MIL. Now the kids can read we have had to top!

There is a politician in Australia whose name is Richard Face.

I used to work in local government and there was a guy who worked at the local simming pool called David Dive.

I worked for this partnership where one of the top guys was John Cherry. One time his wife came to an event and we were introduced - Geri Cherry.

I also knew a John Thomas - he was south african and had no idea why everyone sniggered.

A teach I know swears he taught two cousins, Andrew and Christopher Peacock. The Boys were know as Drew and Chris. You have to say this one out loud.

HughJars · 24/03/2004 07:52

I don't think it's very funny to laugh at people with silly names. Some of us have to lve with people sniggering when we introduce ourselves.

No idea where my contribution disappeared to last night. I was offering:

I was at school with a Theresa Green

I taught a Chelsea Knights, and a Paige Turner.

An American called Richard Tosser. He didn't get it.

Whenever anyone asked me what I was going to call my baby while I was pg, I said "Abukta if it's a girl, or Abukto if it's a boy." Ds's surname is Reid! Most people said "oh how lovely" and moved away quickly!

wilbur · 24/03/2004 08:19

eddm · 24/03/2004 09:04

Theresa Green seems quite common - I also went to school with one of those. Maybe she's just a very sociable girl and we all know her! Her parents weren't just daft about names though. They lived in a caravan while building their own house. And then couldn't get the caravan out when they'd finished because the house was in the way!
