apparently.

ok they didnt say it, but all the P&t spaces were full, so we (sparkygothkat, me and dd3) parked in the space at the end of disabled row, but not in diabled bay (end of the row are two normal spaces). we came out, and next to use was a couple with a baby. they knew i was seething, no badge, not disabled, just with a baby. arrrrrgh!!

Did you say anything to them, or are youlike me.. the type who quietly seethes away and says nowt

southeastastra · 05/08/2006 22:21

people are 'orrible

misdee · 05/08/2006 22:22

i seethed and ranted in the car after. and had a giggle about how having a baby makes people disabled.

expatinscotland · 05/08/2006 22:22

that can and will always piss me off when people do that.

BIG difference between having a baby and being disabled.

misdee · 05/08/2006 22:23

i had a temp disabled badge for a while b/c i couldn't f*cking walk more than a few yards and not at all w/o pain.

not b/c i was too lazy to carry my baby in.

disabled? get a badge.

otherwise, park in the back and be grateful you can walk.

HarpsichordCarrier · 05/08/2006 22:32

I had a row with a man this week misdee, who was parked in a disabled space. I asked if he had a blue badge and he said we don't bother with that round here we were on holiday and he was a local so I think he was hving a dig. I said well you do bother about it if you can't walk and he said if you are going to be like that I will just walk away and leave you without a space.
I said you do know being an ARSE is not a disability
my sister was in the car with me and was cringing with embarrassment. I think being on mumet has immunised me to a bit of aggro.
(good news, btw misdee )

misdee · 05/08/2006 22:36

oooo HC i would've slapped. i do like the comment about being an arse though!

I would never use (and have never used) a disabled space as not disabled, but I have been in carparks, where there were no m&t spaces. Sometimes the spaces are so narrow, that it isn't a case of being too lazy to use another space, but you can't open the door wide enough to get a car seat out, and that is why the disabled and m&t spaces have the hashes.

misdee · 06/08/2006 08:39

but this was tesco. spaces are wide enough, and there was plenty of normal spaces near where we parked. they also didnt take the aseat out as it was a big 2nd stage seat.

I don't normally get too wound up about this. It makes me angry but, one bloke really did make me see red mist last week. He was in a lovely black Merc SL500 and the inpudent tw*t parked right across two disabled spaces and sauntered into sains! I was

I can't even get a badge with Sam, because of DLA delays and arguments over whether his tendency to escape/ etc makes him need one (they say no). And I wasn't offered one years ago when I couldn't walk after I damaged my back. So I get very infuruiated about this, because even though I need a badge I don't have so don't park in the spaces.

grrrrr

misdee · 06/08/2006 09:02

SFPC, we are still also waiting to hear from DLA regarding dd2 claim. if they finally decide she is entitled to care or mobility they will owe us backpay to march. Peter does have a disabled badge, and the only time i use it when he isnt physically in the car with me is at harefield when i am collecting him from the hospital and bringing him home. i couldnt get one last weekend (very unusual as the whole car park is usually empty) so parked over 2 bays.

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 06/08/2006 09:16

I have a report from my paed saying 'entitled to DLA' but DLA have bizarrely asked for a report from the school. Why? Isn't it about how we are affected at home? Except school A? well you know how very helpful theya re!!! and B) are on holiday for X weeks anyway.

I have resubmitted the report from the Paed, but very frustrated!

geekgrrl · 06/08/2006 10:16

kelly, I think you should have keyed him.

shhhh · 06/08/2006 21:59

To be fair, our Tesco tell m&b's to park in disabled if m&b spaces are full. The same is said to disabled people. Usually though there are lots of disabled spaces left over so disabled people are not put out iykwim.

What annoys me most is people parking in m&b when they have an "older" child or one parent stays in the car with the said child while the other shops .

dmo · 07/08/2006 09:35

dont understand!!!!
why cant you park in normal car space if you have a baby?
is it cause of getting pram out etc?
i'm a c/m and often have 8 children in a mini bus, dont expect special parking space for me
those (most of them) who park in disability car park space need it
didnt think you lost use of legs when you had a baby

geekgrrl · 07/08/2006 09:39

shhhh, your Tesco's shouldn't do that . It'll make people thinks that it's fine to do that anywhere, and that they have a right to a special parking place just because they have a child...

Jimjams2 · 07/08/2006 09:43

Oh, they have a baby, they are the ONLY people in the world to have a baby. The world revolves around them and their baby. Surely all disabled people can see that? Why on earth would a disabled person need to go shopping, when they could worship at the shrine of the new baby.

geekgrrl · 07/08/2006 09:43

jimjams

misdee · 07/08/2006 09:45

jj

thats just it isnt it. they have a baaaaaby, so the need special parking. having a baby makes them disabled didnt you know?

obviously having CP/LVAD/ASD (plus all other disabilities) dont really count as disabilities as they have a baaaaby.

Guy at the cinema once dared me to key his big black brand new Jag, when I chinned him for parking in last disabled bay & my friend had nowhere to park. God I really had to restrain myself. Was tempted to take a few runs at his doors with her wheelchair!
Love the comment about 'being an arse isn't a disability'

potoroo · 07/08/2006 18:48

Someone kept parking in the disabled bay at work when they were running late.
My colleague left a note on the windscreen saying 'I think they mean physically disabled' and they stopped

swedishmum · 07/08/2006 19:53

I love some of your comments. Might write some signs up ready! Asda car park guy once told me to use disabled places. I didn't, but I'm sure many would. Funniest one I ever saw was when a bloke parked in disabled area at Tesco then ran into shop, banging his head on the sign on the way. Must admit to laughing out loud.

dizzybint · 07/08/2006 21:29

dmo- i thought it was to give you extra space at the side to get your car seat out. it's awful where there are no m&b spaces and you get back to your car to find you can't get the car seat back in so you take baby out of the seat, try to wrestle seat in side ways then stuff baby in..awful. in those cases i tend to park wonky and take up 2 spaces.
