If you were a sexy young flirty thing once, how do you avoid becoming a sad old leery woman?

OK, not the best of titles, but let me explain...

Let's say that in your teens, twenties and early thirties you were an attractive, sexy young thing:

  • got lots of attention
  • found work, socialising etc easy - you always seemed popular
  • no shortage of boyfriends when young and admirers even when older
  • you liked a bit of a flirt, and to some extent your 'personality' was related to your sexuality...

then wham... along comes motherhood, ageing, an extra stone in weight and suddenly you can't 'be' who you were before without seeming like some sort of leery old woman??

Is this what 'growing old gracefully is all about?'

What if you don't want to?

I've got a better body at 40 than I had 10 years ago. Thinner, stronger and more muscular. But I don't give a flying t*ss if any man thinks so. If he doesn't he needs his eyes tested but it's his loss not mine. Let's face it how many men look that good after 40. I've taken to wearing short skirts again and I think I've got fantastic legs. So does DH luckily for him. Anyone else can just look elsewhere. Got propositioned by a young lad outside the gym a few weeks back on account of my legs....having said that he was pissed as a fart and probably shouldn't have been in charge of that guide dog...
