Yes I think your right about the office thingie

I was wondering if I could be upstairs with skylights looking down into each room - but realise that even I can take micomanaging too far

I guess 15 by 15 is the way to go

I wish I could get a price more easily

Ideally the 2-3 and the under 2 is one room with a partition rather than a wall - that way if either room is short on child numbers then the staff can cross (not sure what word goes here but it means neither Member of staff can get accused of anything as another member of staff is in the room)

Does that make the job harder?

OP posts:
Skribble · 06/08/2006 22:48

Can you have just one member of staff in each room? We always had to have two, So one could leave to do nappies toileting etc but had to be 2 for each room, even at butlins who would have manned it with a video if they could get away with it.

Having those 2 rooms linked is ideal, means some can sleep and the others can join the 2-3's to give them peace. will still be nappies and potties so a changing area can be between the 2 as well.

Katymac · 06/08/2006 22:50

If the 2 areas are in one room then the staffing will be OK (ie one for each "end"iyswim) - but they must be separated (hopefully by furniture)

OP posts:
Katymac · 06/08/2006 22:50

So that's 1 MoS in each area (which makes 2 in the room - I hope)

Love the idea of the office being above them all soundproofed ofcourse but with windows looking into each area,

At the butlins I was at the office was designed to look like a cottage in the central hall, tiled roof and everthing, with the reception desk in front of it. Their was a window direct intot he 5+ room and a window that looked onto another window into the 2-5 room. Matron was like Big Brother.

Katymac · 06/08/2006 22:52

That's so me big brother/matron/absolute dictator

I'm off to bed - catch you tomorrow

I've got to do NVQ in the AM

Disabled loos are
1.8 x3 or 1.8x2 or 1.5x3 or 1.5x2

4 toilets are 3.6x3.2 or 2.8x4

2 toilets are 1.7x3 or 3.5x3

Don't know if this helps?

OP posts:
Skribble · 07/08/2006 23:36

OK I have a plan that has everything in it,

2 loos for 2-3,
2 loos for 3-5,
2 loos for girls,
2 loos for boys
2 disabled/ staff.
So 10 loos in total, if you don't need that many the 5+ loos and disabled can be merged as they are all at the one area, so cheaper to install too.
Babychange 2x3, off the 0-2 room,
Office 2x3, accessed from foyer,
Staff 2x3, accessed form the central hall.
Kitchen 3x4, accessed from foyer and the 5+ room for serving meals.
Each room is big enough with double doors to each from a squarish central hall. 0-2 and 2-3 are end to end and have a 2m wide sliding/ concertina wall joining them with baby changing in between also.
Even got a pram parking area.

It all seems Ok and nice and symetrical, big open area and no skinny corridors.
I will try to get it drawn out properly now .

Katymac · 08/08/2006 07:58

You have been working hard

I think I have the same - but with less loos
They are all accessed from the 2-3, 3-5 and central area and there are just 4 (plus staff & diabled)

I can't wait to see it - I'm not sure I'll need a pram bit - but it might be useful

I have e.mailed you a legible copy, but you might need the homeplan pro programme to open it.

Katymac · 08/08/2006 21:52

Can I download the programme?

OP posts:
Skribble · 08/08/2006 21:58

Yes it was one of the free trial ones I found, \link{http://www.homeplanpro.com/index.html\Home Plan Pro.
There are measurements on the plan which are not totaly accurate, and I haven't taken into account the width of the walls, that got a bit to technical but you can eat into the baby change, staff room, kitchen etc if they are going to be picky about a few inches.

TWO MAJOR PROBLEMS....

it's in feet

& I don't want a grand piano in the middle

Thanks it's fab

I'll have a proper look & get back to you

OP posts:
Skribble · 08/08/2006 22:09

No its in metres and the grand piano is opptional

Katymac · 08/08/2006 22:11

All your dimensions are in feet - your areas are in metres (at least on my plan.....)

OP posts:
Skribble · 08/08/2006 22:19

You can change the settings in options or preferences, they are automatic thats why they are not spot on. I typed in the sqmts so they have not reverted to ft. Its american and automaticly works in ft.

Katymac · 08/08/2006 22:39

I think I have made it work in Metres....maybe?

OP posts:
Skribble · 08/08/2006 22:44

Well you get the general idea anyway, I thought the piano was a wonderful idea .

If you take out the 2 girls/ boys loos if not neede then your central hall will be huge and very usable.

Katymac · 08/08/2006 23:15

Have I toldyou lately how wonderful you are?

OP posts:
Katymac · 11/08/2006 23:19
