One of my boyfriends very close friends has been living in Ko samui for a few years. My boyfriend is his point of contact as this man is not in touch with his family anymore. It has been brought to his attention without much information that he has been found dead in a room there.

We really need to find out information about this as it is all of our responsibilities to sort things out if something has happened.

Who do we contact for more information?

what sort of memorial does your dp have in mind? A place to go and think about him? some sort of mark of his presence in the world?

there are remembrance books in some places, eg cemeteries; I once had occasion to ask for someone's name to be put in it. I chose his birthday, rather than date of death. His name and DOB and a short text (which I chose) were all written out beautifully on a page decorated with flowers like an old manuscript. Also we received some small cards with the same text so we could keep them at home. the book stays in the cemetery under a glass case and every day it is turned to that date's page where you can read all the entries for that date over many years. I don't think it was necessary for him to have had a connection with that cemetery altho' in fact he was cremated there.
otherwise there is the plant-a-tree, or park bench type of idea.
