Cotton Moon - I have a bad feeling about this!

I ordered a dress with matching bag and hat from Cotton Moon in their January sale. The cash went out of my account on Jan 14th but I haven't had my stuff yet. Tried to ring them this morning and the number on the catalogue directs you to a new 0800 number - which a recorded message advise you is unobtainable.

I have ordered from them twice before, the first odred took months to arrive but the second arrived within days. I have just emailed them but the phone number on their site is the old one. I'm feeling rather pessimistic here. Anyone else ordered from them?

School where the sale was would have been Thomas Tallis then, if that's any help.

Jimjams · 16/03/2004 11:09

That's it! Thomas Tallis! They held sales there about twice a year- maybe worth asking them if any more are planned....

Do you know it never occurred to me to contact the bank? Have just rung them and been asked to fill out an online form disputing the transaction. The man I spoke to on the 'phone said that in 8 out of 10 cases they refund the money. Will let you know - thanks for all your help.

Chandra, that surprises me about Jojomamanbebe - I have ordered a lot from them and they've always been fine. It's so frustrating, isn't it?

I got sent a single duvet yesterday, by some unnamed catalogue (home shopping something or other) - price £8.99, thought maybe dh had ordered something, so signed for it (via courier). rang the 08700 number & told them I hadn't ordered anything, it was a bogus order & they said they'll send someone to collect it. it had my name & full address on, so I think someone's been rooting through my bins & ordering in my name in the hope they can get a freebie when the postie puts the parcel behind a plant pot.

That's really worrying, bundle. How did they pay for it? Had you better notify your bank?

Sorry but if you find out the name of the school - don't go - DP has warned me to never set foot in Kidbrooke after he was attacked whilst playing a Sunday game of footie there and I must say that I lock all the car doors if I ever have to drive through there!!

Latest update:

I had a letter last week from Greenwich Council, Trading Standards Group. It basically says that Cotton Moon have ceased trading and left their business premises without leaving a forwarding address. Greenwich Council are contacting any customers they can find (presumably from post /papers left on the premises) to let them know. Goes on to list various ways I can attempt to reclaim my money from the bank etc.

Ah well....
