Cotton Moon - I have a bad feeling about this!

I ordered a dress with matching bag and hat from Cotton Moon in their January sale. The cash went out of my account on Jan 14th but I haven't had my stuff yet. Tried to ring them this morning and the number on the catalogue directs you to a new 0800 number - which a recorded message advise you is unobtainable.

I have ordered from them twice before, the first odred took months to arrive but the second arrived within days. I have just emailed them but the phone number on their site is the old one. I'm feeling rather pessimistic here. Anyone else ordered from them?

Uh oh. Have never heard of the company but agree that this unobtainable number thing sounds VERY dubious

Their accounts are overdue at companies house (ws6info.companieshouse.gov.uk/info/info.cgi?cname=COTTON%20MOON%20LTD.&cnumb=02829438&status=%20&id=ccb34d59051bcbecc1e7c6e18a93aff9). Never a good sign?

marthamoo · 05/03/2004 12:02

Paid by debit card - isn't the credit card protection only if it is over £100? It was only £20. I say only..still will be seriously p*ssed off if I don't get my stuff/a refund.

Update: have telephoned, emailed, ad written - no response.

This morning I got a catalogue in the post, same size, same format and SAME CLOTHES as Cotton Moon, but a company called Little Folk Store. Different address (still London, but SW17, not SE10). They have an 0800 number - now, the number I was re-directed to when I rang Cotton Moon was an 0800 number (but was "unavailable" I would be VERY interested to know if this is the same 0800 number but, annoyingly, can't find where I wrote it down. I have rung Cotton Moon's number again this morning and there is now no re-direct message, it just rings out.

Batters, I know you rang them too - did you happen to note down the number?

I think my money is gone, realistically, but I would be very interested to know if this is the same company under a new name.

Batters, it's 0800 028 3425. I've got to go out now, but will check back in later. Did you get a Little Folk catalogue too? It came in a brown envelope with typed sticky label, just like C.M. I reckon if you get one too it's fairly certain it's the same company. They have no website.

marthamoo, ring the debit card company and say that the money has been mistakenly taken from your card and you haven't received any goods. They should refund the money. Do it quickly though as their is usually a time limit on these things.

cotton moon used to to an end of season sale at a school in SE London. Sorry being very vague- it's at a place beginning with k, next to greenwich (someone help me out here). The school was the one the shoe bomber went to.

Very tangled way of saying maybe they have contact details (although I doubt it). Contact the debit card company and ask for a refund.

tamum · 15/03/2004 22:19

Blackheath has a k in it, but don't suppose that's any good?

Jimjams · 15/03/2004 22:24

no- but its next door to blackheath. Really large estate, kind of between eltham and blackheath.

tamum · 15/03/2004 22:28

I'm so sad I looked at multimap. Kidbrooke?

Gilli · 15/03/2004 22:45

If this helps, when I lived in Blackheath (until 1994) I used to know the girl who started Cotton Moon but I can't remember her name. Point is, she lived in Kidbrooke, Blackheath, and may still do. It was very much a kitchen table business. HTH

Jimjams · 15/03/2004 23:06

kidbrooke!!! That's it- thank goodness it was beginning to annoy me

Well if it helps some body, avoid JoJoMaman Bebe, they say you can return the item if you don't like it or didn't fit but when the items arrived (Considering the price, I think they were not of the quality to be sold for that amnount of money), so I returned the most expensive item but it took endless telephone calls of them saying they didn't had a system for returns but if I send the item back by recorded delivery they would credit my card, I sent it. By the same time DS was born so I totally forgot about it, it has been a year now and my acount has not been credited yet and no sign of the breastfeeding polo shirt either so nearly £50 down the drain... at least on my part probably they have already sold it again to another unsuspecting mother... so... beware of this one as well...
