Cedar Therapy do Aveda but are a bit of a step from Oxford, and I think Mahogany , which is in town, do too.

JackieNo · 14/07/2006 10:18

Mahogany used to do Aveda, not sure if they still do.

JackieNo · 14/07/2006 10:19

Snap, MrsB. Do we need to work out a rota system, do you think?

MissChief · 14/07/2006 10:20

Thanks, MrsB. sad, I know, but great to know it's within hopping distance..are you in Oxford itself then?

There's also Philosophy in Abingdon who do Aveda. I know that there's an Esporta in Oxford, and think they do pilates.

MissChief · 14/07/2006 10:56

thx, is that walking dist. of town centre/stTION?

Map implies Esporta is not in easy reach of station (sorry - haven't been, although I have heard people say it's good). Philosophy in Abingdon is in the town centre (no train station there).

Georgina Evans is a specialist postnatal physio who can do practically anything upside down holding two toddlers. This is where she hangs out privately, she's also the NHS pelvic floor guru if you have any major bottom shower problems, also in 2004 anyway she was doing a lovely postnatal pilates class in Marston. Ask around the NCT.

at \link{http://www.woca.org.uk/\West Oxford Community Centre there's a lot of good stuff. It's a few mins walk west from the station. Top dates are the Friday morning parent/toddler group (massive free for all with lots of toys) and the Toy Library sesh immediately after (plus cafe), but there's also lots of pilates, yoga, other groups. And a reading group. We're looking for new members (shameless plug - next meeting 17 August, The Human Season by Louise Dean - be there).

hmm what else - what do you like?

acnebride · 14/07/2006 11:21

there's an LA fitness in the centre of town but west end near the station - i bet they do pilates

MissChief · 14/07/2006 11:26

wow, thanks, reading gorup - always wanted to join one but sure you'll all a bit highbrow in oxford?

MissChief NO oxford is a real place and does not contain only 100,000 academics . Highbrow discussion last night - 'Ooh i like that book cover better than mine - why are they always different?' tbh there are a couple of v highpowered people but plenty of lowerpowered ones too. (8 pm - bring your own tea/coffee)

friday group - i started going when ds was about 6 weeks - they have a baby area which is protected as well as all the toddlers and just plain runners. some parents do find it a bit full on. it runs 9.30 - 11.30.

try tuesday 9.30 am or also friday can't remember time for Hilary's Music. Costs £1.50 a session and really, really nice, not like the big franchise ones, although there are those too.

MissChief · 14/07/2006 12:22

lovely, might try out both then (but, what no wine for the bk group?!). won't be there in aug, do you happen to know when the nxt readign gp meet is after that?

OP posts:
MissChief · 14/07/2006 12:40

oh and is hilary's music in the same community centre then? is it jo jingles/music with mummy type thing?

Jazzi · 14/07/2006 12:45

Mahogany do do Aveda - bit pricey though!!

MissChief · 14/07/2006 12:46

i'm not so into the treatmts, can't bring myself to part with so much money, but do like aveda salons for highlights and cut.

will post re sept meeting, it's Fingersmith to read anyway.

re wine maybe that's why we're short of members!!

Hilary's Music just nice class with local lady and her guitar plus lots of good songs and repetitive format (sounds dull but it's not and the kids love it). Just like the franchise ones but laid back, cheaper and you don't have to pay in advance.

acnebride · 14/07/2006 13:23

yes sorry Hilary's at the community centre.

MissChief · 14/07/2006 13:45

ooh, you're all wonderful, big thanks!
Loads of info to digest here!
