I use a fan

noddyholder · 03/07/2006 21:47

Dp always turns the fan off because of the noise but will keep it on tonight

If you use a fan stick a bottle of frozen water with the lid off in front of it and it will cool the room down a lot, a fan on its own would have to be blowing on you directly all night to make a difference.

Scumster · 03/07/2006 21:47

Someone told me it is cooler under a sheet than with nothing at all.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 03/07/2006 21:47

Invest in a ceiling fan! They are brill.Mine was £24.99 in argos last year.Need someone good with electrics to put it up but well worth it.

have a shower just before you go to bed, & don't dry yourself. v. cooling.

jampots · 03/07/2006 21:54

Scumster · 03/07/2006 21:55

lol at knickers in the freezer! Good luck.

Mercy · 03/07/2006 22:02

Run/splash cold water on the inside of your wrists, forehead & temples, back of neck.

I also put my leg halfway down the toilet and flush it so the water goes over my foot!!

Scumster · 03/07/2006 22:07

I wouldn't do that in my toilet, Mercy! Which reminds me- i need to add claening the bathroom to my to-do list!

Earlybird · 03/07/2006 22:10

Erm Mercy.....why not just sit on the edge of the bathtub and turn the cold water onto your legs/feet? No need for all this foot in the loo business.....!!

On radio phone-in I once heard someone commending dampening sheets with garden puff-spray thingy full of water

Never tried it myself

Am fairly sure that if I 'misted' the bedsheets tonight, they'd be dry by the time I'd finished brushing my teeth

Mercy · 03/07/2006 22:31

Why the toilet? It just seems to have the right amount of pressure and the water is always cold! Yes I know it sounds daft but it works.

bakedpotato · 03/07/2006 22:33

Mercy, do your toes go around the u-bend?

handlemecarefully · 03/07/2006 22:35

On BBC breakfast news they advised opening the loft up (because heat rises - thus heat will be dispersed into roof space)
