Does the butler do your hoovering m'lady?

GenT · 18/02/2004 14:43

can they be confined to one area and you need not bother clearing as it only repeats itself the next day?

Crunchie · 18/02/2004 14:58

Why bother?

LadyCodworth · 18/02/2004 15:15

My In laws plus 2 bloody cousins have just left and my house is a tip!!!! I have been looking in despair at the mess for the past few days but persuaded myself to do nothing until they left. Which is now. Oh dear!

Beccarollover · 18/02/2004 15:39

Seriously, how would you suggest I tackle a house where every room needs sorting, tidying and cleaning with both kids to entertain, feed and cuddle at the same time? Im sick of it today and want to sort it but only get to spend 5 mins at a time before "waaaaa" or "Mammmmmmmyyyy"

CountessDracula · 18/02/2004 15:41

Oh LadyCod fancy letting your cleaner take her hols during half term! (guess she must have child too)

Get rid of your carpets, then you only have to sweep

CountessDracula · 18/02/2004 15:41

Don't bother Becca. Or send them out with someone

Beccarollover · 18/02/2004 15:44

nobody to send with, ive been waiting for someone to take off my hands for ages now and no opportunity so it has mounted up

sitting here talking about it is achieving loads obviously

id love a cleaner - when back at work think i might treat myself

marialuisa · 18/02/2004 15:48

I think we should have our mumsnetter meet-ups at each others houses????? There are enough of us, house work would be a breeze, we could batter the rugs, thinking of our nasty partners/ex's. Scrub the washing, thinking about someones head on one of those mangle things, Kids they would be at each others throats, (P+T parking thread, you can't sit there this is my reserved space...)My god someone do something, mumsnetter fever has me under its spell.........I have not slept properly.... ( heading to bed...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Beccarollover · 18/02/2004 15:54

I enjoy cleaning and have a good sort out but just annoys me when I cant have a good go at it - I like to start in one room and work right through the house so by the time im in the last room the whole house is spotless

survivour · 18/02/2004 15:57

On a more serious note, I have just looked over my shoulder at the boys, 3 of them, the room behind me is a total mess...... I will stare at the screen in front of me, it is nice and clean, not a speck of dust anywhere. ( note to self, do not look round!)

CountessDracula · 18/02/2004 16:32

I hate cleaning and am bad at it.

Plus as soon as I've done it dd or dog or dh or I trash it again.

I do occasionally have a strange urge to clean but it soon disappears as soon as I start

LadyCodworth · 18/02/2004 16:38

I like ot listen to the radio

Prob is that i get fixated on one small area of the house and leave the rest!

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 18/02/2004 16:40

I'm the opposite. Start and don't finish anything Usually have to have v loud music on to make self feel motivated (doesn't work)

So I go back to R4 and mumsnet and let it pile up till the cleaner comes in...

Slinky · 18/02/2004 16:40

I hoovered this morning and the lounge is still looking tidy

Could be that I won't let the kids eat/drink in the lounge - due to new carpet/sofas. At the moment, 2 of them are playing "Battleships" (nice tidy game ) and the other one is watching "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".

We did however go for a walk over the park this afternoon - just that little activity created lots of extra washing for me!! Coats are covered in mud, trousers are soaking wet and muddy!

Options for tomorrow are a) swimming or b) down to the Pier to go on the rides.

Friday - cinema.

Try to keep them out of the house then it stays tidier

CountessDracula · 18/02/2004 16:40

Sorry I mean work of course (sometimes I forget!)

Hulababy · 18/02/2004 16:51

See, this is why I am going out every day this week That way home is no worse than usual and I don't have to clean more. Will have to have a really good go Friday morning though as have friends coming to stay for weekend - any volunteers?

survivour · 18/02/2004 19:48

I'll volunteer!!!! but it will have to be a swap, you look after my 3 boys, i'll do your whole house in 3 hours..........

Hulababy · 18/02/2004 19:52

Mmmm, now not sure that is completely a fair swap How come you are so eager to pass them over???

survivour · 20/02/2004 00:03

Hulababy, my boys are angels!!!!!!! Until they are in my company, then its a matter of "who can make mummy pull her hair out first"..... And they are ever so quiet............... WHILE ASLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
