Anyone done the British Citizenship test?

I'm South African and am married to a Brit. I want to apply for a British passport (because I'm sick of getting visas for everwhere I go) but I have to now take this darn 'Life in the UK' test where they ask stupid questions like: what are the young people of Britain concerned about?

Has anyone else done it? Are the multiple choice questions easy? I am taking in on Thursday and really need to spend more time preparing but it's all just so dull (particularly the bit about the government)

JoshandJamie, just wondering how you found the citizenship test? I'm taking it on Tuesday and am also finding it very dull preparing! Any specific pointers?

hana · 14/04/2007 22:46

princesscc · 14/04/2007 22:48

I got 10 right and a couple of those were guesses.

expatinscotland · 15/04/2007 16:53

I hope you did this before 1 April.

Apparently they changed it and made it harder now.

It wasn't too bad at all when I did it, although two women in my group failed, but I think this was because they did not have a very good grasp of English.

It was multiple choice when I took it (last year).

giddyfeet · 15/04/2007 17:27

thanks cod. I got 6 right :S

I have a seat at heathrow apparently.

hana · 15/04/2007 20:15

you know, I've lived here for 10 years....and have no interest in becoming a citizen...am I the only foreigner who thinks like this?

expatinscotland · 15/04/2007 20:19

I'm glad I naturalised, personally.

Was well worth the money and forms hassle, IMO.

Nightynight · 15/04/2007 20:44

my ex didnt bother. I think the only advantage is the visa thing really.

hana · 15/04/2007 20:45

is that because of visa problems elsewhere in europe? or travelling with the rest of your family who (presumably?? have uk passports?
(am just curious here, am wondering if I'm a minority)

Hulababy · 15/04/2007 20:50

I got 12 But I guessed at several!

Nightynight · 15/04/2007 21:06

non european citizen, who needs a visa every time we go to europe.

Nightynight · 15/04/2007 21:08

I am not remotely tempted to get German citizenship (where I live at the mo), not sure if I will ever get a french pp.
