"Cherish" -David Cassidy

beansprout · 18/06/2006 20:17

Hit me with your rhythm stick - Ian Drury and the Blockheads.

The b-side was "There ain't half been some clever bastards" and I wasn't allowed to play it as it had swearing in it!

"Kool in the Kaftan" BA Robertson on vinyl.

I bet no-one even remembers this - I still have it (along with about 1,000 other records that dh is desparate to get rid of, but that I can't bear to part with)

7" vinyl of "Bear Necessities" from jungle book, and I paid for it in 1/2p's that my grandad had given me.

It was 70p!

I was probably about 5years old

spursmum · 18/06/2006 20:45

Mine was Wham!s Last Christmas. I still have it in my parents loft!!

KTeePee · 18/06/2006 20:46

First single I owned was Blondie's Dreaming, given to me by my cousin for Christmas (probably because he wanted it really - I'm sure he taped it first!)

Caligula · 18/06/2006 20:51

"Sweet Gene Vincent" by Ian Dury and the Blockheads.

Vinyl, 7 inch, still got it.

Old fart that I am.

HonorMatopoeia · 18/06/2006 20:53

'Now that we've found love' by the wonderfully titled Heavy D and the Fat Boys Grin

jac34 · 18/06/2006 20:58

Blame it on the boogy by The Jacksons.
Vinyl, back in the days when Michael Jackson was black and looked like a human rather than a wax work.

TmobileMum · 18/06/2006 21:05

Donny Osmonds 'Long-Haired Lover from Liverpool' on single vinyl(cringe) bought it when I was 5 with Birthday money. Hadn't a clue who it was, but I knew My eldest brother wanted it, so I bouth it and wouldn't let him play it!!! Found it in my Dad's box of records last year.

TmobileMum · 18/06/2006 21:08

Bought it even (should check my spelling). Blush

JoolsToo · 18/06/2006 21:10

this is embarrassing

Telstar by the Tornadoes

anyone heard of it?

jac34 · 18/06/2006 21:17

Joolstoo,
I've heard of it,I used to play it on my Dads record player. It had an arm that had to be moved across onto the record but would play a load of records, one after the other.
We also had one of those "sideboards" that played music.
GrinReally showing my age now.

Dior · 18/06/2006 21:17

Madonna - True Blue on cassette

Purchased with my own money to listen to on my new Walkman, didn't i think I was the bee's knees that year? Smile

spacecadet · 18/06/2006 21:19

jac34, my friend used to have one of those sideboardsGrin, it used to amaze me.

milward · 18/06/2006 21:19

The song from not the nine o'clock news with a hedgehog on the cover!

JoolsToo · 18/06/2006 21:20

jac - it was probably a Dansette record player or something similar - we had a Garrard!!!

they had a metal rod in the middle of the turntable on which you could stack a few singles - when on finished the arm would swing out of the way, the next record would drop down onto the turntable and the arm moved back in to play the record!

I'm old! Grin
