WHY are all little girls shoes vomit pink?

Fillygirl needs walkin' shoes.

Am I missing something, or is it impossible to buy girls shoes in not-pink? Or mauve, if the designers are feeling risky.

And so much WHITE! Its so impractical.

Maybe I'll just buy her boys shoes. The assistant seemed utterly and completely shocked at such an idea though, like i was going to feed her chocolate or something Shock

You do get other colours but they tend to be very pricey. DD1 is in a charming pair of green sandals.

DD2's are pink Blush. Soupy, I remember saying just the same, and now I live under a mountain of grubby pink socks.

What we really need is a shoemaking workshop. Shouldn't the lentil-weavers be able to do this kind of thing. Where are they all?
Wink

Ditto MI! SD - I swore blind that a, DD will not wear dresses before she's walking and b, not a smidgen of pink frilliness will enter this house.

Well I won out on a (except for her christening dress) but failed miserabley on b, primarily as DD's living in hand-me-downs from friend atm and also because she likes the damn stuff!

We've manged to avoid pink shoes though! She's got white leather buckle sandals from Woolies, exactly the same as the ones I wore at her age Grin

Hah! You think you're having a hard time. Try having a boy. I am SICK of bloody blue.

NotQuiteCockney · 11/06/2006 13:29

If any of you is vomiting pink, you probably should seek medical attention. I'm just saying.

WelshBoris · 11/06/2006 13:30

do you think the 56 marshmallows i ate last night might have something to do with it?

SoupDragon · 11/06/2006 13:31

GeorginaA, there's nothing daity and delicate about size 7 feet!!

NotQuiteCockney · 11/06/2006 13:31

With the vomiting? The pinkness? Or both?

SoupDragon · 11/06/2006 13:31

Dainty.

WelshBoris · 11/06/2006 13:32

both

NotQuiteCockney · 11/06/2006 13:32

Possibly. It was probably some salad or something, though, surely?

WelshBoris · 11/06/2006 13:33

no definatly the marshmallows

joelalie · 11/06/2006 13:35

DD's new shoes are sh*t brown Grin Much nicer....

At least there is some choice in girl's shoes. Why is it that as soon as boys reach about 4 years of age you can only buy then trainers or big, ugly, black shoes????

NotQuiteCockney · 11/06/2006 13:41

DS1 has some sandals. Also, converse trainers with batman logos all over them.

Bozza · 11/06/2006 13:52

Well DD has white sandals, pink doodles and black patent shoes (these are left over from last winter) and red wellies. So we generally have a match for most clothes although I certainly wouldn't have bought her white closed toes. The doodles do get dirty but wash really well. DD has a high arch which affects choice of shoes - so often it is only the pink ones that fit!

DS is similarly afflicted with a high arch and H width feet. He is 5 and really has a mind of his own, so currently has black and grey Cica trainers, black school shoes, blue sandals and brown boots (left over from winter), and blue wellies. ATM we are constantly arguing over what he wears on his feet with me pushing the sandals and him wanting the trainers.

Blondilocks · 11/06/2006 14:15

I got my DD some blue sandals with a mauve and white circle design on in Clarks a week or so ago. Luckily she really wanted sandals so was happy enough to have any colour!

I do think the boys sandals look quite horrid in most cases.

agalch · 11/06/2006 17:42

Well after having two boys having a girl was fab.I hated pink/frills etc before i had her but as soon as i brought her home i made a beeline for the pinks etc in all the shops.Shes never had pink sandals but i has had 2 pairs of white and she looks great in them and they go with every outfit she has.Trainers for jeans and black patent for skirts and kilts. love it love it love it Grin

Enid · 11/06/2006 17:45

startrite doodles are much nicer

dd2 has a groovy pair with chinese girl on one and bird on other, v funky

WestCountryLass · 11/06/2006 22:04

My DDs got navy ones from Clarks, they have a small embroidered area.

I always get navy cos that goes with everything, I don't buy different shoes for different outfits other than wellies and trainers.

FillyjonktheFluffy · 11/06/2006 22:43

it annoys me though that you have girls shoes and boys shoes.

what happened to those unisex brown sandals that everyone wore with socks til they were about 7?

florenceuk · 11/06/2006 22:48

DD (20mths) went to the tip with DH in a Batman vest, a blue pair of surf shorts and blue wellies yesterday! She looked like a sheep shearer!

FillyjonktheFluffy · 11/06/2006 22:52

oooh now wellies....you can get lovely wellies...why can't they make shoes to match?

TooTicky · 11/06/2006 23:01

Oh Fillyjonk, have you heard of Green Shoes in Totnes? It's a completely female handmade shoe company. How cool is that? We've just bought some for ds2 who has impossibly narrow feet (D bordering on C!)and they are beautiful. Real quality. Plus, when he outgrows them, they can stretch and resole them (once!). Let's see if I can do a link...

TooTicky · 11/06/2006 23:02

Hooray, I did it!!!!!!
But it took me ages to find the backwards facing slash thingy and the wiggly bracketsBlush

Gillian76 · 11/06/2006 23:09

I personally like a bit of colour in the summer (never seen vomit pink though...). They will spend many long years in boring black school shoes :(
